Hai!

Set in a car park underneath piccadilly train station, old brick arches and concrete floors. Imagined like a real warehourse party.

Boom boom boom.

A set of all-nighters with various DJs and live acts doing their soundmaking thing...

Last night -

Vitalic [ Live ]
Digitalism
The Whip [ Live ]
Ivan Smagghe
Simian Mobile Disco [ DJ ]
A-trak + DJ Medhi [ Ed Banger ]
Ting Tings [ Live ]
Andro

They played pretty much in reverse order. The whip did their electronic-mixed-with-indie kind of thing. I supposse you could call it new-rave if you wanted to be a twat. I liked the electro stuff they did, but they kept on spoiling it by playing guitars and singing in annoying indie voice. Ho hum.

Then Simian Mobile disco came and played - they played more electro/french kinda stuff. I only recognised 'its the beat'. I like them. They do fun DJ noise. A good mix of the current trend for music that sounds like robotic crocodiles dancing and fighting on a pile of electric guitars and amps, with more old-school 'Bring it to a rise and go YEAH!' kinda stuff. (I'm not very good at genres..)

Place was packed with beautiful amounts of pretty, ugly and inbetween people. Some living stereotypes of Madchester castualties to complete the look.

Digitalism played, but I didn't listen much. Digitalism aren't my favourite really, so I took the chance to have a nice sit down. Someone asked my friend's name and thought he said 'Baz'. He's called Martyn. Hilarious.

I really really like Ivan Smagghe. By this point of the night, the Attitude types had calmed down a bit or left so there was more room to go off into my own little world and do silk reeling/dancing. His is a minimal kind of techno that really tweaks my sensibilities. Kept me happy.

I'm a good boy and don't take drugs any more, which meant I was wilting pretty hard at 4 when Vitalic came on. He made an awesome opening with tracks I don't recognise, but then I had to go cos I'd been up too long. Bless.

I got there too late to see any of the other acts (club night starting at 8? Odd)

It's really quite an enjoyable thing and everyone should check it out - it's running til jan 1. Other nights I'm excited about:

Fri 30 nov
Miss Kittin + The Hacker [ Live ]
Andrew Weatherall [ DJ Set ]
Optimo Espacio
Andro
Plus More TBA

Fri 7 Dec
Aphex Twin [ DJ ]
Luke Vibert [ DJ ]
DJ Rephlex Records
Otto Von Shirach
Sequence DJ'S

New Years Day
2MANYDJS
SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO
SEBASTIAN [ ED BANGER ]
BOYS NOIZE
RITON
& MANY MORE

I would write more, and much more enthusiastically, but I am tired and need to do uni work.

Suffice to say

WHOOOOO! YEAH!!!

Yes, now that I've recovered somewhat I will give a large affirmative to what Petunia has said. I think one thing worth mentioning is the sheer size of the place - it's an underground car-park, it's massive, it's the size of several regular clubs. All this packed with wonderful human flesh.

Will you shut up with the old man stuff? Vision doesn't go out dancing any more because he has a child and perhaps doesn't really like dancing. It is a decision he has made - he wasn't forced into it by decrepitude. He is only 32. He is not actually your Grandfather.

Did a post get deleted somewhere or is my morning haze failing to let me read a joke?

Vision goes on about being too old for stuff all the time; here and elsewhere. There was no joke. I still love him, though.

Ahhh. I was confused by the whole use-of-third-person thingy.

And boboss is well old. Thirty-two? I know dead people younger than that.
