Food blogs! I wants them.

Thinking about it for some time now, in addition to reveling in my joy of cooking, food, and various stages of gourmand behaviour for years now, I have started to work on creating a food blog. It's something that I am thinking about putting together very carefully and would like to know what kinds (if any) food sites and/or blogs do you enjoy. I am always curious and anxious to read pretty much anything involving food.

While not really a meat-eater (personal choice as I dislike the flavour, not so much the practice), I do eat chicken, fish, but also adore--and mostly cook--vegetarian and vegan cuisine.

Um. So that's it. I'd love for you to help.

I regularly look at Smitten Kitchen. It's a little more dessert-oriented than I am, but she cooks real food and it's a pretty site.

I also like Diet Blog, a rather boringly-named nutrition blog. It's not so much recipes as information about food, the food industry, the diet industry, etc. Nice and factual, not faddish.

Oooh, Smitten Kitchen has another version of a dessert recipe I found today: Pumpkin Bread Pudding.

I don't really mess about with desserts as I consider myself more of a savoury chef than a pastry one, but heck, that recipe does make me want to try to attempt it. Preferably in November so my future in-laws can be amazed at my goddess-like culinary skills, but heck, I think it would work any old time this coming winter.

Corduroy Orange is one of my favorites... not recipe heavy, but Jesse is a good writer as well as a good cook with a good sense of sustainability and a good sense of humor.

Ethicurean.com. Does what it says on the tin.

Megnut can be quite good. The author co-founded blogger before deciding she liked food blogging better than tech.

Oh, they don't necessarily have to contain recipes, as I enjoy food-writing and reviews in and of themselves. Especially funny ones.

I published a food blog for a little bit. I keep meaning to get back to updating it regularly but it's about 37th on my list of priorities and so never happens. Anyway, there are a few good posts here.

My partner is addicted to Cook (almost) Anything at Least Once. The food is exquisite, and the photos spectacular.

I think good photos are important on food blogs - they really keep visitors coming back.

Dredging up a somewhat old (but not very) thread of mine:

My own food blog thingy.

I'd love for you food-oriented 'Lithers to bookmark, post, comment, or email food suggestions about it. It doesn't look like much at this point, but I promise I will make it pretty and worth reading as the weeks go on.

This week's upcoming recipes: Tandoori chicken and chipotle burgers (of course, turkey and not beef because I don't care for it).

I watch quite a few. Some of the best are:

Bento Anarchy focuses, as it says on the tin, on the art of bento. Boxed lunches have never looked so good. In fact, there is a vast network of bento blogs, at least some of which are vegan in orientation.

101 Cookbooks is the recipe journal of Heidi Swanson, cookbook author and photographer. She comes up with something new and innovative every few days, and the photographs are always lovely.

Chocolate and Zucchini is a new discovery for me. I went in search of broccoli soup and was not disappointed.

Hope that helps!

One of the interweb's lifesavers for me is Orangette's blog. Well written, seasonal discussion of the things she cooks and her ingredient infatuations du jour. If I have second thoughts about how to cook something, a search of her archives usually turns up something.
