I'm not dead

It's been a while since I posted here, maybe a year or two, I don't know. I miss you guys. I don't know why I wandered off, but once I did I didn't really want to come back. I don't want to be the person I was 2 years ago (or really, the person I am now), and there's this painful permanence to posting anything on forums in that it's possible to find it years later.

Maybe I should change my name or something. Whatever, I wanted to say hi, if maybe there's someone still here who'd remember me. Not that I'd want you to.

Hi. Really glad you're okay.

If you want to change your screen name and prevent anyone knowing who you were, just let this thread sink, make the change, and wait a month before you post again.

Yeah, I don't associate your name with anything particularly dreadful... it certainly can't be worse than I was back in 2003.

Hey, welcome back. REALLY glad you're okay!

Yeah, changing your name's easy (for 28 days it'll still say your old name underneath, but after that you're home free).

Welcome back fuckbaked! I still remember you and your interesting posts. And you linked to that site of yours (or wasn´t it yours). And you invited my to a visit in California. Thanks for that!

fuckbaked! Hooray!

I've actually been wondering about you, off and on, ever since you vanished and have been hoping you were okay. So: hooray!

As Boboss says you can always change your name and wait the 28 days for the "previously" bit to drop off. Like a big internet butterfly. Or a skanky umbilical.

I always wondered why people think changing the name and waiting four weeks could make them unrecognizable. If I ever wonder "who might that be?" and have a hunch, I can look at the register date and the number of posts, which narrow the number of possibilities down, and then can browse for threads started by that person or some memorable posts and voilà!

Yeah, but how often do you do that? Personally I only bother if someone has written a post all like "mEtA Lizards of IJC rule the sleeping WORLD! S A L T = 14 + 1 + 12 + 15 = 6 = crisps are the food of the Devil, eggs and walnuts must be eaten RAW," which hardly seems to be likely here; or if they've said something very cool and insightful, in which case there is little to be lost by my knowing hir old username.

On another forum, some people start aliases from time to time, and many people then are in a competition of who gets it right first, before the alias admits what hir main account is. For me it´s the same effect, as when I recognize an actor and then have to figure out, where I have seen him before (I had this with Timothy Dalton in Hot Fuzz, for exmaple). I have to know!

Don´t confuse me! What are you talking about? The apostrophe in A'rbol?

You tend to use Smartquote apostrophes. Smartquote Apostrophes from Beyond or Below.

Oh my GOD I've just seen what Triplets is talking about.
You have deviant apostrophes. There so like normal ones, but subtley wrong.

Yay, so many familiar people. I hope you're all doing well. I just need to think of a new name for myself that doesn't suck (or possibly one that does, Fuckbaked was never a great name, but it worked).

Mistoffelees wrote: And you linked to that site of yours (or wasn´t it yours).

I did link to a silly website I'd made, yeah. That site isn't around anymore, but I've been slowly trying to write an online game since then. Very very slowly, so maybe if I don't give up on this I'll have something cool to link to in the future.

Riiight, that sounds just like something a zombie fuckbaked would say to throw off suspicion.
Welcome back. Zombie

I want a link, I need closure (what are you guys talking about?). Help me find out, if there is something deviant in my keyboard!

Your apostrophes look like this:

It´s raining!

Instead of like this:

Let's go inside.

Your apostrophes look like this:

Aha! Thanks for that explanation. I always use the ´ next to the backspace key for apostrophes. I didn´t know, there is a difference, because when you look at the representation on the keys, it looks exactly like the apostrophe symbol between enter and ctrl.

Your keyboard obviously looks nothing like mine.

Is it made of gold, perchance?

I failed to take a photo, my camera must have gotten wise that it´s beyond the warranty.

So I was looking for photos on the internet, and my keyboard does seem to be unique. Almost all keyboards I found have no keys on the right of the right caps lock key, but I do. It is this key: # and '(caps locked).
Maybe it´s a collector´s item?
