So, about Kingdom Hearts 3...

I can only hazard guesses at who a couple of the people in that trailer are... I'm guessing the guy towards the end that takes his helmet off is Axel, and the blue-haired guy could be an older Riku. Anyway, very cool looking trailer.

That said, however, I have to wonder exactly where they're going with this. Is it supposed to be a prequel and I'm completely wrong about the character guesses? Plus, the presence of thousands of keyblades seems to blow the idea that Sora is the ONE TRUE MASTER of the thing somewhat silly.

This has been mentioned elsewhere as well, but Mickey and the whole typical idea of KH seems to be shoved rather viciously to the wayside here. I'm having trouble envisioning Goofy and Donald popping up and wasting ethers after a cutscene like this.

I'm not sure that there are many 'lithers into KH, but by Mickey's tail I am. KH1 was doubtlessly a hell of a lot of fun. The novelty is what attracted me to the original and I suppose loyalty made me buy the second. That and wanting to see how the story would pan out. The second was incredibly underwhelming story-wise, descending into the schmaltz and the non-sensical realms that KH1 started messing about with near the end. I'm cautiously optimistic that KH3 might be good, eschewing the more Disney-ish tone of KH2 in favour for the perfect balance of KH1.

Anyway, the trailer. Didn't we already see more than one keyblade towards the end of KH2. Riku, Sora and Kairi had one each, didn't they?

To be honest, I wouldn't know. I'm currently tearing through KH1, and have yet to play 2. I had started playing 1 quite a while ago, but gave up due to frustration with the gummi ship mechanics (among other things). Of course, playing through it again, I discovered the warp holes that come into play shortly after I gave up on it the first time... -_- I've pretty much fully fallen in love with it this time around, though.

Anyway, at the point I'm at (just opened up Atlantica and Halloweentown), there hasn't really been any mention of any other keyblades besides Sora's. The existence of others really isn't a problem for me, it just caught me off-guard.

That's really a shame that more 'lithers aren't into Kingdom Hearts. It's a load of fun.

I loved the idea of KH, but found it very frustrating to play the first time I tried - I felt that the mix of different game styles (platformer, RPG, scrolling shooter) just turned into something of a mish-mash, and felt that Square Enix's typical angsty emo characters didn't really merge well with the Disneyverse.

However, I gave it a second go a couple of months later and am now happily questing away. I'm not sure why it sat better this time - possibly because I was expecting more of an RPG the first time around, whereas this time I approached it knowing what it would be like - but I'm getting a real kick out of it. Plus, all the intertextual stuff is a real delight - there's something so amazingly right about being able to summon Dumbo that my earlier reservations just melted away.
