Chrome Hoof, my new favourite band

Has anybody heard Chrome Hoof's new album "Pre-Emptive False Rapture" yet? It's fucking stunning. An enormous band (there are about thirteen of them including a horn section and dancers) started by two brothers. One of these brothers is a huge fan of 70s funk. The other is the bassist in Cathedral. The combination is AWESOME.

I've seen them live exactly once, supporting Sunn0))), and it was one of the most amazing gigs I've ever seen. All dressed in shiny silver space robes, and with a giant with a ram's head prancing around the stage. They're as tight as a gnat's chuff, and they rock out and funk out with equal success. And despite being both funk and metal, they never actually end up being funk metal, either.

They remind me of Black Sabbath, Funkadelic, Hawkwind and Sun Ra all at the same time. Chrome Hoof fucking rule.

It's been a great year for music, but this is definitely one of my albums of the year. Truly fucking splendid.

Now, that is weird. Just bumped into Nuneaton Savage in the record shop and just what should he be buying....? I guess when it comes Chrome Hoof time, etc.... Checked them out over my lunch break - sound really good. So I should rush out and buy the album, yes?

YES.

YES.

A million times YES.

Only they don't sound like YES, in case you were wondering.

Buy it. Buy it NOW. I can't stress this enough.

I have more sympathy for TEH EVILS DOWNLODZERZ in England once I worked out the converted cost for a new CD. Plus shipping to Canada, I'm talking about $32 Canadollars.

Is there N. American distro for their label? Couldn't find any, but perhaps my search-fu is weak.

the Hoof (shall we call them The Hoof?) were absolutely stunningly over the top at the Sunn0))) gig mentioned above; I've yet to hear the album, but I'm looking forward to it.

There's a good interview with them in the current Plan B, in which they try their best not to make much sense and to talk super-intergalactically. Crazy guys, crazy music, well worth the trip.

Can only agree. It's one of the best albums I've heard this year. Top notch. I'll post more later but I've got to get to work.
