How miserable are we? On visiting my wonderous Barbelith Conversation after a drunkered night looking for some insperation, what do I see?:

Things that tick you off
Miserable thread
Am I bad person?
I'm off I've had enough (no bloomin wonder)

let me tell you of my hangover

This is not to disregard or disrespect any of these threads but blimey we are the Barbelith people, we surely must have some happy moments to share too...

I've just got back from Prague with my hopefully forever partner, we had lots of fun, I ate Ostrich (sorry but it was good) and had strawberrys with vineger, which was not so good. However life can be great, let us not forget it

Joy like this?

I pollute your Joy thread with my churlishness. You cannot stop me. You cannot reason with me. I am the Churlinator.

Yes indeed I like very much the talk of happy givingness. Maybe perhaps I just picked an unfortunate time when there was much sadness and anger in the Barbelithian world? I would never question the churlishness or otherwise of anyone, but would celebrate it, let us all take pleasure in the shared joy of having a Barbelith to call our own.

The existence of the tris legomenon 'Churlinator' (Google shows one other use; I'm using it right now) is pretty joy-bringing. Your attempt to not bring joy has failed joyously. Unless it was a ploy to bring more joy, secretively, and thus add a veneer of additional joy, of the joy-by-spite/reversal sort, in which case it has succeeded.

Joy-thread joins Gives Happpy thread and a Miserable thread that has happy news in it at the moment, as well as most of the pissy/upset/lonely threads having become joke threads, full of beer references, baked goods, and excessive punning and soft sarcasm. Short of getting cake out of it, or being allowed to dress the forum in Shade the Changing Man's funky coat, there's little more joy to be wrought from this, I think. Most of the actual complaining - not all, but most - is pretty pleasant complaining, really. Gives people something to do. Even the real miseries are evolving into laughs and hammers of joy.

Ahhaa my kind Decedent advisor I thank you for your positive direction towards the happiness hidden in the less than joyous topics. I admit I did not delve below the surface, but was mealy put off by such negativity within the titles of said threads. May haps (and I can't believe I actually ever said that) this place could be turned to use - to enjoy the Universe that is Barbelith and to celebrate in all it's content?

Without of course duplicating all the paraphrasing threads and the I love such and such because... threads dammit I just want everyone be able to come here and be happy despite what may

Yes, Happy Birthday.

I am extremely happy 'cause I went to a tailor today and I'm getting a bespoke suit that's sharper than Wolverine's claws, and it's all thanks to my lovely Mum.

I really should get married more often.

Last night/early this morning, Friend and I went out to look at what could either be a really spectacular meteor shower or nothing at all. We picked a relatively random part of the area to drive into, and drove, and drove, and drove. We chose well in that it was a pretty empty area without many lights. We chose poorly in that it was full of fog. The easement was chock-full of amazed deer, owls swooped overhead, we saw several unidentified walking/hopping/strutting/crawling objects, and there were all of two deer carcasses along the whole two-hour stretch of deerful highway—still enough to make me wish I was capable/equipped enough to dress them and take the choicer bits with us. And there was lots of fog. At 3:30, after stopping at a peaceful, scenic (if dark) stretch on a winding river to look at the moon, listen to the water and the animal life, and stare mournfully into the fog, we gave up and headed for home along a different route. At 4:00 on the dot we came to the perfect turnout—free of lights and with a mostly clear sky.
Then as soon as we stopped, the meteors began. They were utterly worth it.

Good suit brings joy.

But so does the recent, ongoing appearance of the Polysics in the Music forum.

Not the actual band, just their music. It's enough.

Espresso stout begins to be actually quite nice a few in. Combined with jalapeno and mushroom and sausage pizza, and crazy witty people? Confusion and funny stories? Not a bad night and full of JOY!

And a week of paid engagements in my proper profession, readings and pushing my own stuff just around the corner, with relaxation, promotion and kicking back in a cute little retreat until I almost feel like a functional professional? Joy.

Also good is every cool thing in this thread, of which there are many! Yay, all y'all! Yay, the rest of you! Yay, some other folks! And, currently, although in less inebriated states I may disagree with myself just slightly, most yay to the posts and posters confused or misinterpretting other posts and posters to add even more joy than may've been immediately called for! Preemptive and presupposed joy!

Also, also, joy for the word 'joy' not sounding particularly stupid saying it a lot. 'Joy' always sounds joyful. That's cool, which can also be said lots without losing enthusiasm.

Just finished my second run through of The Wire season 2, and, as predicted it brought the joy, which is a bit strange as in many ways it isn't all that joyful.

But that TV can be that good. That is extremely joyful.
