Flyboy's secret origin

I was in Forbidden Planet today (buying Urusei Yatsura videos, not comics. Comics are for geeks.)

And I was having a brief look at the 'cult fiction' section or whatever it's called, and a book caught my eye. It was called "Flyboy action figure comes with gasmask".

So clearly I bought it straight away. It's about a guy who can turn into a fly, lives in Toronto and watches too much Sailor Moon. Seems aii so far, but I'm only 40 pages in...

Was this a factor in fictionsuit choice? Inquiring minds want to know.

Sadly, no. That's pretty cool, but I've already got one fake secret origin, which is that it's inspired by Neneh Cherry's 'Kisses On The Wind'...

Wow. Can I just say that the person from whom I received this in the post today fucking ROCKS? It actually looks really good, apart from anything else... And it has a character called Cassandra in it. Like Cassandra Nova, see? Do you see? Do you?

It's okay. The concept is better than the writing. Some hilarious vignettes though and some serious insight into activist geek-boy psychology...

actually on the advice of you good barbelithiums, I went out and picked this one up as well. quite good so far. haven't just come from reading six Philip K. Dick books in a row, I'm finding myself reeling from the easy-goingness of the narrator.

but damn it, how long must I read before he admits that he can turn into a fly!!!?!?!?!

thanks gang,

I am now quite disturbed by the extent to which elements of this book relate to the past year and a bit of my life... Waargh.
