The Iron Man Project

Barbelith, once more I need your help.

The Iron Man thread in the Film, TV and Theatre forum desperately needs more people involved in posting news snippets, discussion, spoilers (clearly marked please) and speculation. At the moment it's floundering on about page two. I'm finding this extremely upsetting and wish it were not so.

To give a little background: four years ago I had a dream that the Iron Man movie was going to be directed by Jake Fabian and that it would start Rodney Dowler Snr. I sat bolt upright in bed yelping "Pretty Toney!" at the top of my baby pink thirteen year old lungs only to have Snapping Turtle shove knitting needles through the soft part of my hands, you know that part with the nerve cluster that instantly drains your body of lymph.

Two years to the day later I was standing on the steps of the Parthenon when I happened to look up into the sky and see a vision of Shellhead rocketing towards the heavens, Stars and Stripes in tow. Coincidence?

It's all true, but it sounds made up. My life sounds like it's made up!

And now, four years to the day later, Hurting Lunge have the chance to support Iron Man in Surrey. The support slot is confirmed, but Toby Stank won't tell us the location of the show until the thread passes sixteen thousand posts. Please, we NEED his audience!

So here's the plan Barbelith. Each of you reading this who wants to be involved please spend five minutes a day posting to the Iron Man thread. Keep it clean, no references to drugs, no swearing. You can split that five minutes up any way you like, from a thoughtfully prepared five minute post to a hundred one word posts that will make you look like an utter wanker. But please, we need to surpass twelve hundred thousand posts by three Tuesdays after next Tuesday or me and my beloved band will be doomed to spend a day wandering around Surrey.

You really came through for me with Melt Banana, now it's Iron Man time!

Iron Man's is here!

Help me tie four years of my life together Barbelith.

May the Hammer of Bannination descend upon Seth; let it smite him with terrible force and relentless fury.

You only want to ban me because you can't admit that you think it's cool when I post racy, sexy, classy stuff. I'm tired of being *othered* by you Fuckboy. Get back in your bolt hole.

Seth, I applaud your bold intention. I intend to shortly start a thread for discussion of the second sequel to the recent Transformers movie, hopefully we can get to about page eight before there's any news about whether there will be any sequels, let alone a second one.

In the meantime, I wonder if this is of any use to you. It just seems like crazy talk to me, but you never know...

I'm confused.

Not about this. Something else.

It's not really science fiction, though, is it Seth?

I just realised...Iron Man's in Surrey? I think he's found my lab. With my snake-soldiers only days away from hatching.

A shiny penny to the Barbe-monkey who dresses up as Captain America and runs around Herts to distract him.

Iron Man's in Surrey?

Due to a critical misread, I now have Tony Stark singingly assuring us it's got fringe on top and everything. White horses. Dashboard, genuine leather. This is how it's gonna be. And, then, drunkenly, lapsing into a mournful and yet somehow eighties' metal-tastic version of I'm Just a Girl Who Can't Say No. Thus is my sleep deprived gray matter complete and satisfied.

Now, is that science fiction or just fantasy?

p.s. the surrey does have rivets bolted on.

Is Iron Man really made of iron? Because if he were, Titanium Man would kick his ass

And that's a science fact!!

Hang on... on rechecking those links in my first post it turns out that they're dead. At present we don't even have a topic to discuss Brad Mangina's new Iron Man movie.

What an oversight! There's gossip and production news to discuss people, plus fun speculation!

The first person to start such a thread (in the Switchboard of course, as that's where NEWS STORIES go) will get free tickets to see Mangasm supporting Mangasm UK at the Braintree Arena.

Of course, there's an argument in favour of moving every topic to the Swithcboard: everything's news to at least someone. Right, factfans?

I'm in the same boat as the bigger majority. Iron Man could use more realism and be dressed in leather. What's with the fucking iron and shit?

If there's anything that helped X-men was Wolverine being a butch and hairy leather daddy. Imagine if he had a stark goatee.

Stark's facial hair = teh sexxah!

Wolvie's soulpatch? Oh, wait, Hugh Jackman never sported one in any of the movies, right? Right?

Please tell me that's right!

What I wanted to know about Wolvie's movies (the other mutants were mere sidekicks, let's face it) is how much hair gel was used to maintain his awesome 'do!

But we are moving dangeroulsy offtopic here.

We have a topic?

Seth

Yes we damn well have a topic. I have a dream that I need you all to help fulfil, a dream that is currently slipping through my fingers!

I've just been informed in the last few minutes that if people don't post in the Music forum Iron Man will die. No one wants that, least of all you Evil Scientist.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

But if Iron Man dies, then Evil Scientist goes unopposed.

I thought that was the point of Barbelith: the New World Order, starring the dominator with the mostest, Evil Scientist?
