Our Lady Has Left the Building

Did anyone else watch this? it's truly amazing, it's got a plot that often doesn't make a lick of sense, characters who frequently do stupid things that result in their death and a lead actor who has obviously been told to indulge his every half-baked idea even when it's a bad one, by virtue of him being James Nesbitt.

It's also, somehow, strangely compelling viewing and great fun, even though by rights it should work less than Torchwood.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy

Haven't seen it or heard of it, Lady. Oddly, all I can think of is the Jekyll/Hyde musical, starring David Hasslehoff.

Please tell me you're lying.

Or taking the piss.

I can't decide which one I want.

It finished last Saturday on BBC1. There were six episode of it. It started while Doctor Who was on it's last few episodes. Did no-one else watch this?

Shiny: Well Over Thirty
05:20 / 31.07.07
I watched it, and I'd have to agree with you're assessment of the show on all points. It should have been awful, and indeed there is one point - you probably know the point I'm talking about that had me wanting to shout 'WHY ISN'T THIS A STEAMING PILE OF SHIT?' over and over again. I'm still not sure what the answer to that question is but it wasn't.

Watched it. Despite the sheer redicularity towards the end (telepathy! EMPs! the ending!) I adored it.

ONLY NICE THINGS
12:27 / 31.07.07
I saw it, and I sort of enjoyed it, but I just can't think of much to say about it. It was just sort of there. I think I was more excited by Meera Syal, Johnson and Superhans turning up than I was by the actual plot. I was also struck by how much James Nesbitt's portrayal of an amoral psychopath resembled his portrayal of happy-go-lucky Adam from Cold Feet. This similarity increased by both having a romantic relationship with a woman with the facial features of a Citadel Miniatures elf and the acting chops of a table.

Are you dissing Gina Bellman?

I tried to watch it but my need to punch James Nesbitt in his smug nordie face made it imposable to watch.
I hate that man.

Our Lady Has Left the Building

Yes, Nesbitt should automatically equal FAIL and HEAT-DEATH OF WHATEVER TV CHANNEL HE APPEARS ON but somehow, despite his Hyde being Panto evil in the first few episodes rather than genuinely evil, somehow, this show still does not die.

I watched it and I think the last 20 minutes packed the same punch as I would imagine the end of the novel did when it first came out when nobody knew the twist.

Our Lady Has Left the Building

Yes, I didn't get the thing about his Mum but that's because I assumed she was a ghost. I don't know whether her quick disappearance thing was a part of Hyde's powers that he didn't learn to use. I'd quite like to see a second series but, considering that by the middle of the penultimate episode there was a feeling that Hyde had already killed anyone that could be a threat, I'm not sure how they could maintain any tension.

Imaginary Mongoose Solutions

Well, he's obviously not the only one, right? Multiple Hydes (as well as just trying to bring him back) equal a higher threat level.

Triplets

Watching episode 1 now. Judging from Nesbitt as Hyde all the women in this should be men in drag.
