Any Dario Argento fans here? Finally the third of his movies about witchcraft is being released! first there was Suspira then Inferno now the Third Mother! Yes! I've been a fan of Dario Argento since my step father took me to see Deep Red. I got into Bird with Crystal Plummage where Dario was dubbed the New Hitchcock! Anyone a fan of the Stendathal Syndrome or Tenebrae here? He has his version of Dawn of the Dead the original that is. His brother co financed the original Dawn of the Dead and what we had was George Romero back at his prime with Dawn of the Dead. Now I can finally see the Third Mother one of the movies I have been waiting for for a long time. It stars Dario Artento's daughter Asia Argento seen in Land of the Dead and XXX.

I like a lot of the older Argento stuff (Tenebrae is great fun) but my confidence was lost after seeing his Masters of Horror effort, Jenifer, which is fucking awful.

I don't think I've seen any of the later end of Argento's career, at least, not a whole one of the movies. Weird. Just watched Tenebrae, Suspiria and Deep Red back to back to back, about a month or two ago. Had built in my head that they really weren't that engulfing, but nope, swallowed me whole and chewed me up something fierce.

Have you seen Stendthal Syndrome? I think it's one of Dario Argento's best. I read a critique of the movie and it was interesting with the phallic imagery of the compositions leading to the attack and breakdown of Asia's character who was raped by a serial killer. Or Two Evil Eyes? His segment with Poe's Black Cat is also a treat. He uses a lot of references to Poe's other works in the film ie. Pit and the Pendulum. It stars Harvey Keitel as the protagonist I thought it was one of his best. I can't wait for the Mother of Tears.........

Any fans of the original DAWN OF THE DEAD? This is the guy that got George Romero to do a sequel of NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD in the 70's and financed it with his brother. Dario rules!!!!

Does anyone know who's doing the soundtrack? I suppose it's too much to hope that Goblin have been made to reform and forced not to use any instruments made after 1977?

Or perhaps I had my phone off the hook when they tried to call?

i will be really interested to hear what people think of his recent work. i loved his older films, but have been turned off ever since i saw 'jenifer', which quite possibly could be the worst movie i have ever seen. (funny, the runner up to the worst movie i have ever seen was made by his daughter, 'scarlet diva'. what a piece of trash that was.) i had wondered if dario had lost his mojo and was just riding on his name; it will be nice to hear if 'jenifer' is just a black spot on his career and he has more goodies up his sleeve.

I kind of liked the soundtrack for Sleepless. Sleepless wasn't bad I liked it and that went back to his giallo roots of good slasher films. I think Bird with Crystal Plummage was one of his best films. This is the sequal to Suspira and Inferno a series that deals with witchcraft...I have to see Jennifer to see if it is any good or not. Wasn't that the Master of Horror series they had on made for cable TV? I haven't seen a single one but I do want to see Miike's one. The one that got banned...

Not following the Jenifer hate here. I wasn't astounded by it or anything, but it was ... fine, I thought, on a filmmaking level.

I thought its misogynist/normative/ hate-the-different message was utter shit, but it was... okay, I thought, from all the standard composition, framing, pacing, editing standpoints. Compared to his "Phantom of the Opera," it was freakin' Bergman.

That being said, I'll need a refresher on the first two movies before I see the new one. It's been a long time, and I'm honestly no longer sure I've even seen Inferno, or just read about it.

I actually really enjoyed the Jenifer segment in Master of Horror and also his recent Pelts as well.

I've actually been quite a fan of the series. I'm usually a fan of the more cerebral end of horror but a lot of these episodes have just really delivered.

It is worth remembering the directors have about 50 minutes and probably quite a low budget to work with.

(off topic, sorry, personal favourites - Cigarette Burns, Homecoming, Imprint and The Screwfly Soltion).

Looks good. Bit of vomity bloodness there to keep me happy. No pumping synths as yet but we'll just have to hope that they make the final cut.
