I dig parts of the series, but I can't be bothered to keep up with it for broad stretches. Part of that is, yes, that it's often not stocked by whatever my local comics shop happens to be, and I've been moving around the country so much the past few years, there doesn't seem much point in arranging single issues of anything to be special ordered for me, or just held. But a large part of it is just that a lot of the plotlines I can remember, the hook, the motivation, was basically to get through the storyline. Gets old after awhile.
I do really like that it's a series based in whatever Perry happens to be interested in at the moment. There aren't enough of those, and most of them come out of Vertigo. Unfortunately, rather than covering ideas, politics, the eternal questions of manking, even in the way that Preacher or Transmet did, the book is a rumination on RPG tropes more often than not. |
