Possible glitch in 'God of War 2' (and general discussion of the 'God of War' series, if liked).

Ok, in the first stage of 'Temple of the Fates', when it's necessary to ring the Cronus bell, then get back up onto the platform and set the battering ram in motion before the slow time amulet has run out of energy, is it normal for the green glow to pack up the moment R1, at the edge of the platform, is pressed? When by rights you should have at least a few more seconds left? And if so, what's to be done about it? None of the walkthroughs I've read seem to hold out much hope.

Otherwise, though; both this and it's prequel are terrific games, which I suspect in the future will be comparable to the work of Powell and Pressburger, in terms of the development of the genre. Granted, the back_story isn't all that sophisticated, but it packs an emotional punch; in a way that I haven't done before, I've found myself getting caught up in Kratos' tragic fate over the last few weeks, so much so that if I ever finish the bloody thing, I will, I'm sure, miss the big, tattooed, homicidal maniac, and all his antics.

I've not played the game but you might find the game guide we published around launchtime useful.

It doesn't matter that the ol' green glow has subsided. If you've made it across the room quickly enough then the two bells will still ring at the same time, which is all that matters.

Agreed, it's a brilliant game. I've not finished it yet so I can't comment on it as a whole, but it's kept pretty much to the same feel as the original, which is, to be honest, all you could ask for.

However, this has revealed the games major flaw, which is the same as GOW's, the puzzles are just nowhere near as much fun as the combat. There are times when you're running from one corridor to another in the hope of completing some obscure puzzle, where you're just begging for a fuck off great big minotaur to appear just to relieve the tedium. Still enjoying it though.

Speaking of GOW bugs, my roommate and I came upon two A-class issues in GOW 1...

In the Temple of Pandora, there's a spot where you emerge from the water into a small cave and fight a lot of enemies there. If you die and re-spawn in this area multiple times, a memory leak eventually causes the game to crash. ^_^

Also, at some point during during the final battle with Ares (the sword duel), the camera just flew out of the environment, the fight stopped, and almost all the controls became unresponsive. Thankfully, my roommate could access the Pause Menu, and restart from the checkpoint. Otherwise, he'd have to reload his game, and re-play all three stages of the final battle. O_o'

I worked as a game functionality tester for a year, and believe me, nothing ruins your opinion of Sony Computer Entertainment better than that.

Ta. There was, in fact, something important I wasn't doing, which was not the game designer's fault.

Agreed though, about the compexity of some of the puzzles. For the seasoned gamer I imagine they aren't too much of a problem, and in that respect it seems a bit churlish to complain; it wouldn't be good if it was too easy. Similarly, I suppose there is a sense of achievement once you've worked out what's to be done about some of the problems. But there are stages that would make a grown man cry, all the same.
