the gluttonous piggie in me tells you to go buy something really great, now now now.

the sensible mom in me, combined with the girl who has gone hungry and now is getting quite accustomed to not having to worry about those sorts of things, says otherwise. horde the money like a maniac until you're certain you're in the clear. once you're employed again, whatever you have left is extra, and you're taken care of in the event that a job doesn't come as quickly as you'd expected. which tends to happen once you're stuck for cash.

but you should still enjoy your time off as much as you can without spending. take at least a week to be idle, to get all those little things done that you just don't seem to ever have time for, whatever - just do it.

Gingerbob, I'm afraid that you have not been in your job long enough to qualify for a statutory redundancy payment. I hope for your sake that your employers are giving you some sort of ex gratia payment, but even if that were the case I would imagine that your plans to spend it on 'travel' are a touch ambitious. Best of luck though, and hope things work out for you.
