I can find no thread more suitable than this. After a year and a half living with the unpleasant decor in the house we bought, we've started to decorate and put up pictures and that. I bought two Watchmen posters online last night (I have a third, somewhere, but I'll probably never find it) and am planning to get a Vote Kinky poster from the man's own website.
What I now want is a picture of art in an environment. A poster, preferably quite large, which is a photograph, possibly black and white, of an artist's work out there in the world. I used to have a little poster of Rachel Whiteread's House, sitting there stark and alone in the wasteground in East London where it was installed, and that's roughly the kind of thing I'm after. Anthony Gormley, Andy Goldsworthy, anything along those lines. If anyone has a line on where such a thing can be obtained I'd be pathetically grateful.
My ideal, possibly unattainable, would be a b&w shot of Jenny Holzer's Truisms or the Survivor series in New York, around Times Square. Anyone who can point me to one of those gets a free gift through the post. |
