This is the thread for people who have set fire to their homes.

I do find myself speculating on the long-term hnmajyykxl consequences of half a litre of HJC oil evaporating throughout one's dwelling.

Well, I just, and I mean just, gave some extra bedding, clothes, kitchenware and children's toys to 3 families that just lost their homes due to fire. So, some rather positive connections were made, despite the tragedy of it all.

That is rather magickal, in some small way. But, I really wouldn't recommend burning anything down as a practice.

That's a worthy gift. My neighbours on the other hand responded by dumping a broken television on my landing.

Was that a gift, a bad attempt at recycling or televisual abandonment?

I think they just couldn't be bothered to carry the telly all the way down to the street and decided that irresposible fire-having peoples could deal with it.

I hope it was someone from up the ways, anyhow. I'd hate to imagine the kind of mind that could carry a telly upstairs just to get on someone's pecs.

Does it work or is it crap?

I assumed it was crap and chucked it out. I have a telly and I can watch Dr Who on internets.

Potential silver lining - do you or any friends do any artistic work within which it might be incorporated (in whole or in part)?

Well, I already got rid of it. On top of very d. municipal recycling services, there's this sort of unofficial recycling service provided (largely) by the local Roma; if it might work, or might provide useful parts, they take it. Servicable items are sometimes left pointedly on the curb at night on the implicit understanding that they might be of use. They can go in minutes. Very efficient.

That was my first thought, exactly.

Just wondering. For many years I've been considering making a sculpture out of an old PC. Sadly my idea requires the PC to look rather new, but also required a big cathode-ray style monitor, and the two are getting somewhat mutually exclusive.

In retrospect I really should have pulled my finger out years ago...
