Welcome pals,

Let me introduce you to a new philosophy that you may not have heard of before. In fact, I only came up with it this morning. I was thinking about Pulp and pistachios when it suddenly hit me:

All great things in life begin with the letter P. If you’re feeling depressed and miserable just think of a word beginning with P and it will cheer you up.

Here are just a few examples off the top of my head (plus a quick flick through the dictionary): pirates, pillows, palm trees, pubs, poetry, pasta, pizza, Ben & Jerry’s Phish food, peace, prozac, the Pyramids, piss-takes of religious cults…

Still not convinced? Ask Disco. He’s having a great time watching telly in bed, proving that even pneumonia is enjoyable and fun (sorry Disco, but I’ve got to make a point here).

You don’t like the Pogues or the Pixies? No problem at all (well, I may have a personal problem with you but that’s beside the point) - there’s plenty of great pop music for you to enjoy.

Use this thread to talk about a nice visit to the park, your new favourite pop band, that lovely glass of port you had yesterday evening or the pills you popped last weekend.

The possibilities are endless. And if you can’t think of anything to say, just post pictures of cute panda babies, polar bears and puppies! With the help of our adorable furry pals this will become the bestest and happiest Barbelith thread ever! If you join in we will no longer need the miserable thread. It will wither and die.

And even if happiness doesn’t appeal to you and you’d rather be posh and privileged, P-ology can help. This is your chance to become a member of P-ology’s inner circle. With your help we will soon be able to charge for membership and make shit loads of money. Hooray!

Btw - I haven’t been able to come up with a good slogan yet and it would be great if you could come up with a few suggestions.

Let these pandas inspire you:

(And no, you don’t have to be into porn. Just Play with a Partner instead. Note that two Ps are usually better than just one P.)

Poor Knut. Protection of Knut caught on good and quick, though. Proof of our innate goodness as people.

I wish I had good pics of plashing and pleaching, but I haven't.

And, Imaginary mice, have you forgotten the polos already?

Surely everyone knows about the magic(k)al properties of polos? I seem to recall a temple thread. Or maybe it's just in my head. Anyway, I didn't think I needed to mention them.

Damn, I've spent all afternoon trying to come up with Dr. Who-related P-words. Already there seems to be a serious flaw in my philosophy. But I shall have a peanut butter sandwich whilst watching it. Bliss. I mean Pliss.

Phish, my favourite band (plus Porcupine Tree, Patrick Wolf and Pearls Before Swine), and Potsdam my favourite town just outside Berlin! Also parks, pets, pchocolate and Philip K. Dick start with p.

PenPen from Eva

Pen Pen TriIceLon

and, this

is apparently, pchocolate. I don't know what it's from or why a it's a smiley. But it is. It also appears to be a pink, chocolate-connected, slime blob, with a Lego body, but that's alright.

In conjunction with my inability to let myself pronounce the 'p' in 'pchocolate', I shall propose that the Doctor, himself, actually bears a spelling more like Pdoctor, with a completely silent 'p'. It's transliterated for TV to the more familiar form. Thus can Doctor Who be right in there with (Iggy) Pop, pasta, and pencilboxes.

Sorry, Mist, that's piffle - mice did namecheck puppies in post #1. What I really appreciate however is that in the third pony picture, the plush pony has found time to play with a pooch.

I'm sensing an alliterative madness creeping in here... stop me before I start lying my face off and drift into the grip of a pseudologia phantastica.
