Pretty much as in the summary. I've noticed that the Wii has what seems to be a lot of arm-moving wackiness; the summary-mentioned Dance Dance looks like a decent way to actually get yourself moving. Does anyone know of people/approaches to video-game-based exercise that actually works as exercise rather than just moving all funky while playing games?

Blatantly pinched from here: A good aerial combat, armed race vehicle, or even FPS linked to a stationary bike would have me in great shape. I think aerial combat with pedal speed mapped to propeller speed or rate of wing flap might be the most addictive....
Which I think is a brilliant idea! Imagine playing some sort of fantasy aerial combat game, taking to the air in a Leonardian bird-glider, pedalling away like a madman!

And for the hardcore workout, there's also The Exerstation, which... just click the link, please. Not cheap, but, hey!

Oh, there was something like that in the arcades about ten years ago, but I'll be damned if I can remember the name of it. Think it was developed by Namco...

Ah. Prop Cycle. They used to have this down at the local cinema, but I never remembered to have a go on it. Shame - it looked like fun.

My knowledge of physical exercise is non-existent, beyond that which I get accidentally, but I'd imagine that both Dance Dance Revolution and Samba de Amigo qould qualify. Playing them certainly leaves you feeling as theough you've had some kind of workout.

Dance stage megamix actually comes with an exercise program where you can enter your age/weight/height and then work through a number of programs with a ticker showing the amount of calories burned. I didn't use it much however, the dance mat only ever came out when there was a lot of beer involved which sort of a loosing battle.

I have a rowing machine, and there is software for it, but it's limited to "you can row with other people via internet or against pre-programmed rows," which doesn't exactly fill that gap. If Concept2 was really rocking out, they would have some sort of video game where you could row interval sessions to defeat pirates, or something.
