I can't make this date, sorry guys, I'm away at a wedding that weekend. Means I might actually buy and watch Gunbuster though!

YO! That's a shame dude. We will miss you on the day.

I may be able to get you a set of the original series if you're interested.

You know, I'm half tempted to change my name to YO- and getting Seth to follow me around the board repeating everything I say.

Seth
12:57 / 05.06.07
YO!

Seth
13:12 / 05.06.07
YO! Sorry, pressed return too early.

You're welcome to change your fictionsuit to something really bloody annoying, but I really wouldn't recommend it.

This is the unfortunate result of being online while drunk and thinking it would be really funny. Now I'm stuck with it for the next month... and in case you're wondering, the post signing thing is also something I've committed to seeing through to the bitter end. Part of me still thinks it's funny, part of me hates myself.

Unfortunately I’m too sober to change my name to ‘YO! GHURT!’. It’s tempting though…

How about YO! GIBEAR?

Orrr YO! RUICHI SHIHOUIN (is a fanciable cartoon catwoman).

One for the Bleach freaks there.

Too many letters sadly.

That would be astonishing, if you could. Burn me a set, you mean.

YO! I'll see what I can do my friend.

I happen to have Paprika now, and so this could be included in the Busterthon... but it doesn't seem to fit too well. I quite like the idea of having an Anno/Gainax themed session this time with the Gunbusters, FLCL and possibly Cutey Honey if we can get a DVD copy, and then a separate marathon at a later date in which we do the complete works of Satoshi Kon. Including all four movies and Paranoia Agent that would be around thirteen or fourteen hours, but it would make sense to split that up over three days.

Can we fuck with established norms and call it a Marakon?

Mysterious Transfer Student

I was about to suggest it should be called a Konfabulation, but that doesn't work especially well. I just like saying it aloud... to empty rooms.

Bloody hell, this still seems like ages away.

Um. If i were able to find affordable trains (and don't suddenly realise there's something i have planned already), would there be room for a little .tramp?

If there's no room (or if the trains/busy schedule don't work out, then i want dibs on the next animeet - kon sounds awesome.)

As a bonus, i have nice laptop-hook-up-to-tv abilities that would make watching any downloaded stuff a breeze.

18:30 / 30.06.07
Yeah, I think a couple of people have pulled out .trampetunia. Please do come.

The Konathon is still something I want to do... however, I'm planning on moving house within the next few months. I have no idea where yet. Maybe it could be a send off to my beloved flat, which I will be very sad to leave.

Who has dropped out?

This still feels ages away, I don't think I'll really believe it's happening until it becomes a Facebook event.

Yessum, can we have a headcount?

Mes still good.

Seth
12:28 / 06.07.07
I'm PMing everyone who has expressed an interest to humbly request that they confirm so that we can get an official headcount. It's one of the unfortunate side effects of this thread coming so long before the event, I've rather lost track...

Seth

I'm assuming Pacific State and IIV are definites, so you won't get the mail.

Seth
12:33 / 06.07.07
Right. That's everyone contacted. Apologies if you had already made it clear to me, but it's worth another shout out just in case people's plans have changed.

Mysterious Transfer Student

I'll be there in some shape or other.

Right now, having *failed miserably* to get two types of DVD burner software to make me a playable copy of Cutie Honey, I'm waiting for an official R1 copy I scored on sale at DeepDiscount to arrive.

A shame to hear that Seth's flat may soon be no more... it certainly would be nice if the third Animeet could be organized before the move. I'd love to see Paprika again together with an audience.

Up untl the day I got that message I could do it. Unfortunately things have come up and I have to go to a leaving do.

Apologies all.

Next time I come to one of these things I will wear really exciting trousers as a compensation.

I'm away for the next two weeks and my travel to the animeet is dependent on monetary factors which i will not be able to fully assess before my return. However, if you need some form of answer, it's probably looking like i won't be able to afford the £40+ the evil train people want for my carriage.

I will try my best to be thrifty and lucky, but it is looking like i'm going to be a 'no'.

In the spirit of Ben's compensation, i offer the gift of exciting eyes on my successful attendance at an animeet.

People who have so far confirmed:

Pacific State
Haloquin
Pin
Transfer Lad
The Doctor

That's a good number. Probably a couple more people can squeeze in if they want to come.

It's Friday 27th July - Sunday 29th July if anyone's just checking the latest update.

Right, sorry for not replying to the PM'age.

Unfortunately I can't make it to this animeet as on the Saturday I have an obligation I can't shake. If I could, I would, because I enjoyed the last one greatly, and will be jealous of all you attendees.

In the spirit of offering things, I'd like to offer the fact that should there be a next animeet, I will do my best to look like J from Heat Guy J.

Just because.

That and I might bring Edinburgh Rock and other assorted goodies.

Again - I wish you all a good time and look forward to the photos (I'm mainly glad there weren't photos straight after the Eva marathon, because I just glazed over and phased out completely...)

I've just been offered a gig on Friday night in London, which I'd really like to do. I'll see if I can organise some way of fitting the busterthon in though (possibly travelling down very late Friday or early Saturday), as I want to have cake and eat it!

Seth
07:20 / 20.07.07
Let us know what you can do dude.

Instructions will be posted on this early next week.

One final shout out, any more for any more?

In actual fact, Rich, if you come to the 'thon you will literally have my traditional Gunbuster Cake (that's so misleading a noun), and then you will eat it!

The plan:

I should be able to meet up at Goblets in Southampton at 1800 on Friday 27th. I suggest we congregate here between 1800 and 2000. Give me a call if you can't arrive until later.

If you want to come earlier, or have to because of travelling arrangements, then there's standard city centre shopping and drinking to do, there's the beautiful old town walls which are lovely to walk around, and a fantastic arts cinema called Harbour Lights within easy walking distance of town.

Goblets, is also a lovely place to chill out if you arrive early. Be warned, it's a cellar bar, and the part that's at street level is almost invariably closed so it might look shut from the outside, but wander in through the double doors and you'll find one of the best bars in town. It's only a five minute walk from Southampton Central train station and the National Express coach station. Here's a map:

If you need my mobile number then send me a PM.

Bring the usual sleepover stuff. Sleeping bags, maybe something comfy to lounge on for watching. Drinks and snacks in abundance are encouraged.

The plan is again to crash round mine on Friday and Saturday night and leave Sunday. I will sort everyone out with breakfast and I get a good discount on pizza for collection. Pin has also offered to cook for us all on Saturday.

The plan is to watch Gunbuster and Gunbuster II on the Saturday. Depending on how we all feel we could watch Cutey Honey and FLCL on the Saturday too, or split it up and do some on Friday and/or Sunday.

Apologies in advance, but I cannot guarantee that my van is going to be stable enough to provide too many lifts. I hope it will be fine, we'll see.

It anyone wants to drive straight to my place to leave their vehicle then put SO17 2HR into a route finder or sat nav.

If anyone will be arriving later than 2000 then send me a PM and we'll sort something.

Innit. Anything I've forgotten?

Yes! Me!

That is to say, I may be around for some of the weekend, and so may be able to pop over. I would like to experience this thing you call 'Gunbuster'.

Seth
23:34 / 24.07.07
Wicked. In that case I will attempt to make things easy for beloved brothers and other general Southamptoners who may want to stop by for just part of the weekend's entertainment.

We'll be watching Gunbuster and Gunbuster II in the afternoon on Saturday. Each show is approximately three hours viewing. The earliest I'd like to start them is twelve pm, the latest two pm. If you have a preference then let it be known and we'll try to accomodate you. If you're up for watching both back to back then you'll probably be free for other stuff by seven at the earliest, nine at the latest.

Considerably less punishing a schedule than our last marathon!

That was a lovely weekend. Thanks to everyone who came.

The photos are up online here. I haven't uploaded many of them as a lot were poor and/or out of focus, and I'm much more unforgiving of that on the new HD monitor. Also in attendance but not pictured were Ignacio, Ma'at, 100th Munkey and Hellbunny, but I figure I have enough photos of their gurning mugs anyway.

Special mention this time around goes to iamus/The Doctor for bringing the tea ceremony and John Williams soundtracked colouring stories, haloquin for sublime massage skills, Transfer for supplying his sexy Honey Flash and encyclopedic Gainax knowledge, Pacific State for the gratefully appreciated and super-cool Nirvash Spec 2 kit and Pin for the yummy cornbread topped chili.
