I have just written a reply to the 'Temple Presents' thread... and am terrified. I feel like I've put my heart on a plate and shoved it into the internet... where people who I respect greatly will ACTUALLY READ IT! The really odd thing is, I didn't realise quite how passionate I was about the subject until I decided to write it. I'm not really scared it'll be disagreed with... thats fine. Its just... its something that means alot to me... on a plate... that people can see.

Please, share here when your heart is shaking because everyone on Barbelith can see it. Even, and especially, if you are glad you did it.

I'm pretty sure everything I've posted here that wasn't a joke comes under this heading.

Knowing there's others, it's like being in a club. Of people convinced that they probably shouldn't have just posted that and everyone might disagree and eviscerate it now. Or, agree, and it's something everyone already thought of ages ago.

I'm also afraid people who don't frequent Barbelith might read what I wrote and some how figure out it's me. I'd love to think of Barbelith as a wonderful giant family in a large cozy house, but sadly that house is bugged and cameras are broadcasting our actions to anyone who cares to watch.

I sometimes think, "shit that's going to be searchable in 20 years and some jerk is going to compile a psyche report/slander fest/media report about me from all my barbelith posts". Then I remember I'm never running for Prez or some such thing so it is ok.

I also assume everyone who knows me or who is going to know me IRL reads my posts. Privacy and the internet are not really possible.
