now this guy is a dude dub poet. sadly, don't seem to be so much about him in the ether, so was wondering if anyone out there had ever stumbled on a site with some of his lyrics / poems (esp 'dread beat and blood', his fabulous first album)

i want to put them to a work poetry reading group - we decided to look at lyrics as poems and i want to continue a theme i've been at in this group with patois, or at least having language read as it is sounded, to give a sense of speaking by the character.

lkj is full of this! and he is a wondrous poet, but i can't remember all of his stuff, and the vinyl copy of db&b i had seems to have eluded my collection somewhere over the last ten or twelve years (with xtc's 'english settlement', dammit!)

anyway, others have opinions and experience of this great artist? i could cross-post this in 'creation' to get poets talking about it, but would that be useful?

You've tried searching using the correct spelling of his name?

(Mod hat on: If no-one minds, I'm going to put the title of this thread up for correction of the spelling of LKJ's name.)

Part of the difficulty with finding LKJ lyrics/poems online is probably to do with copyright, as many are collected in Inglan Is A Bitch and Mi Revalueshanary Fren: Selected Poems - the latter in Penguin Classics.

So it might be quite unlikely that you'll find them in digital format. Could you order the books through your local library?
