2007. Not only do we get a new El-P album and a new Wu-Tang album, as well as a promised Ghostface and MF Doom record, we get the best guitar band in the world returning to grace us with their inimitable presence.

In exactly two weeks, according to Amazon.

The only advance word that I've read so far is that this is their *rock* album. I have no idea what that means coming from this band, but if they want to save rock'n'roll then there's no-one that's capable of stopping them.

Bring on the hyperbole.

I mean it by the way. If you don't post in this thread that you're going to pre-order this record then I will use the ignore feature on your miserable worthless ass.

This means I will have to go through the whole of Barbelith putting thousands of people on ignore, some of whom I can't communicate with via any other medium, some of whom I love very much. I will become worthless as a moderator, even more worthless than I already am.

It will be worth it.

Pre-ordered off of Amazon 30 seconds ago, am insanely excited. Melt Banana's "Rock Album" the mind boggles, it really fucking boggles.

What the hell do Melt Banana think rock is?

Pacific State, you are wonderful and you are a keeper.

The rest of Barbelith: you have two weeks.

I am VERY serious about this.

Wasn't the last album the rock album? Dude. . .

Seth
23:50 / 16.04.07
Hurry up dude. Don't want to have to ignore Locust.

Pre-ordering's all well and good for people with credit...

Pre-ordering's all well and good for people with credit...

After Bastart closed the connectors, can you really afford to be ignored by Seth. You're helping Barbelith die.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
00:05 / 17.04.07
Well, I'm sure there are ways around the credit problem.

Damn that connector-closure.

Seth
00:08 / 17.04.07
It is also acceptable to purchase it on the day of its release. No later mind.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
00:12 / 17.04.07
Ah. I'll endeavour to do that then.

00:12 / 17.04.07
I swear to get it off eMusic as soon as they put it up. I hope that's good enough... the rest of their albums are up, so odds are good.

Mike Modular
00:55 / 17.04.07
I will also get it off eMusic if that's allowed...

They had the last one up pretty much straight away as I recall...

I am very happy.
Very, very happy.
They better play Dublin this time!!

Not really being one for frenzied anticipation and faffing about with Amazon etc, I will likely stumble my way toward a nice independent shop and pick this up sometime, um, soon after it appears I hope...

...and yes, Melt Banana's "rock album" - good grief, what were the previous ones?!? Calypso??

Although having said that, I've always thought of Melt Banana as being kind of like an Ultimate Pop Band from the far future, rather than as a 'rock' or 'punk' band, so maybe it's a way of saying this one will be more kind of linear and guitar-riffy ala "A Shield For Your Eyes..." from 'Cell-Scape'.

I will be pre-ordering. But I will also be placing Seth on ignore.

Not on Barbelith, in real life. You will see me, but I won't see you! Oh yes.

Seth
12:02 / 17.04.07
That's ok, my friends will show me where to slap.

12:08 / 17.04.07
I will pre-order this record IF you put in a mod request to have the missing "only" inserted into your first post. *sniff*

good grief, what were the previous ones?!? Calypso??

I promise to immediately pre-order Melt Banana's calypso album, should the opportunity ever arise.

Only added.

Mon Oncle Ignatius

Only approved.

I promise to try and blag this album. Will that do?

Failing that, I'll download it from eMusic instead.

14:20 / 17.04.07
No later than the day of release. Otherwise you're on ignore.

MacDara
14:30 / 17.04.07
If they do play Dublin again, uncle, I'll see you at the gig (I had a ticket to their last show a couple of years ago, but for some silly reason I didn't go, and I regret it immensely).

Off to Amazon to place my order now...

No later than the day of release. Otherwise you're on ignore.

I'm humbly assuming we're all proceeding on the honour system here - otherwise Seth is going to find this particular ukase mighty difficult to enforce. (Then again, who knows what exotic weapons are stashed in the Armory forum?)

eMusic for me too, by the way. Promise.

Returning to this thread with a comment or review on the day of release, something about the record that can't be Googled, will be evidence enough.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
21:48 / 17.04.07
It'd be so funny if Seth's copy turned up late...

Shut the fuck up you fuck.

I will be running a contest for the most convincing comment about the record made by someone who has not heard a second of it. First prize is a trip to the set of Lost and dinner with Dominic Monaghan. Second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is Seth puts you on ignore.

Picked up a copy of this this afternoon and am now playing it loud at work. It's fucking amazing! To my shame this is the first MB that has passed through my ears (apart from the fantastic cover of Monkey Man) and i'm going to go on a back cd hunt as soon as possibble. Astonishing stuff! Cat Brain Land is a favourite so far.

Mike Modular
15:34 / 24.04.07
This is now on eMusic. Just downloaded it. Yup, it's pretty darn rockin'...

Mon Oncle Ignatius
23:05 / 24.04.07
Just saw that... as I used up my last downloads. But they refresh tomorrow sometime.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
21:12 / 25.04.07
OK, I have MOST of this album now... only had 10 downloads left. Not listened to it yet- synching it to my iRiver as we speak.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Ooh, this is pretty fucking good. Maybe a leetle unsure about the production, though that could be a function of my player- it all seems WAY too trebly for the first few tracks (as in the cymbals and hi-hats are mixed LOUDER than the guitars and vocals). Must listen on a different system, and will do just that in a minute. Seven tracks in, though, and it's damn good. Cat Brain Land, yeah, that fucking kicks ass. Type: Ecco System is just mental, really, though. It's like the noises from the first track on Cell-Scape, but with more of a purpose (porpoise?). Then it sounds like the Young Gods, which I REALLY wasn't expecting.

Do we get to mock Seth for not having it yet?
