thought I would post this scoop purely as an experiment, to see how fast this news will get around...

last Friday I hung out with Paul and he mentioned he would appear as a scientist in an upcoming SMALLVILLE.

more than this I do not know. not sure if his designs will appear in the episode or the size of his role.

anyway, there you, go, a scoop...

like I said I want to see how quickly this news will get around.

Ria, ummmm, where to begin?

First of all, there is a Smallville thread. Secondly, I know you're excited about your pal's involvement with the brilliant show that is Smallville, and that this is a really great experiment, but Barbelith is not a tv news site. Thirdly, your links - which, by the way, aren't - don't appear to work.

Look, I'm not saying that no-one's gonna be interested or excited by this news - despite my mocking tone I think Laffoley is a genuinely intriguing character and I like his art - just that there are ways and means of doing things round here.

ive known paul for years also, but just so the second poster understands, laffoley is not "some dudes friend' he's one of the most amazing artists alive today, anyone who collects / publishes / curates him or has been exposed to his work understands this.

i wouldn't read a smallville thread if i was in solitary confinement, but i find this ews to be totally amazing and kind of insane. maybe at worst it would have been better in the art and design section, but whatev

And I've got to support Boboss' comments that all this should be in the main Smallville thread. One dude having a cameo on a tv show doesn't deserve it's own thread. If he's a fantastic artist that merits discussion? Cool stuff! Start a thread over in Art & Fashion.

Not having a go at anyone, or anyone in particular, but there's still standards on what should get a thread to itself and where.

I'm not entirely sure I suggested that Laffoley was merely "one dude's friend". In fact, from what I can see I am the only person in this thread to have linked to anything explaining who Laffoley actually is, and the first to mention that he's an artist.

I was complaining about the way this news has been presented on Barbelith, not about the news itself, or the man behind the news.
