Sigil WITHIN a dream

So....after the life changing experience of reading the Invisibles, my eyes have been opened to the world of magic and taken me beyond the false assumptions of the "rational" world.

I didn't know where to start, but my friend led me to the Grant Morrison speech at the Disinfo convention on youtube, and I was introduced to sigil magic.

I've made a handful the last few weeks, and the other night I was dreaming and began to make one up in my dreams, drawing it out on paper.

I remembered a fragment of it and recorded it in my journal.

I did read something Phil Hine said about this being a good sign of progress in your magical workings.

I picked up the Disinfo "Book of Lies" and read his article "Are you Illuminated"...it fit my last 6 years of what Western psychology likes to call "bipolar" states perfectly into shamanic initiation and illumination. So I guess I've been into this sort of thing for awhile without realizing it was considered "magic"...but its nice to know that all the people who just assumed I was wrong about everything I was spouting off weren't any more "right" than I was.

I've been roaming around the boards here and I'm just blown away by some of you in terms of the knowledge and experience you have to offer to save us neophytes from constant fuck ups. Ex. I read the thread on the ethics of love spells and realized the importance of careful consideration before doing anything of this sort.

I just wanted to hear your thoughts on sigils within dreams. If it is created in a dream state does that type of consciousness automatically charge it? Its just interesting to me....from my basic understanding sigils are focused on communication with the unconscious mind, and this one appeared in an unconscious realm. Considering I don't know what the sigil's intent was...its probably something I shouldn't charge, or maybe I should trust my dream?

Final thought.....I feel very privileged to be a part of this community and have access to so many brilliant and OPEN minds. Looking forward to your thoughts.

If it was me, I'd take the dream sigil out for a walk.

If I'm confronted with an image or symbol in my dreams that I'm not familiar with, I like to create a version I can carry around with me. Draw it on a bit of card or stiff paper, soemthign that won't get too scrunched in your pocket, and carry it with you. Take it out and look at it now and again. Draw it on your hand with felt-tip. Get some Milliput and make a pendant with your sigil on it that you can wear, or hang off your keychain. Get to know it. Let it reveal itself to you. It might have something to impart.

As far as I'm aware, no.

As I understand it, you have to spout off a handful, as it were, in what passes for everyday consensual reality.

It's the difference between having a beautiful dream about, say, marrying Grant Morrison, and the reality of standing outside his house,* night after night, in the pouring rain, in defiance of the various restraining orders.

(* This is particularly difficult now that he's moved to the countryside, far away from a late night takeaway one could conceivably be on one's way to.)

It's not the spouting one off that's generally regarded as the important part, Granny. The important part is the little blink that the conscious mind does at the moment of climax.

Eazy Eun, you might like to have a look at the Sigils are boring thread, where some of the theory behind sigil work was unpacked and examined.

I had a lucid dream in which I created a sigil in the palm made of a white light and charged it. I remember that as one of my best and most vivid lucid dream experiences.

Thanks for the suggestions. =)

I have been looking through the threads mentioned. Strangers...I will give your method a shot.

At this point I think I will start sneaking sigils into my flyers for my upcoming music performances...I don't think McDonalds should be the only ones allowed to be "viral".
