Just seens this in Top Shelf's 2008 schedule and thought you might like to know about a fellow barbelither's new book, coming next year. it's been a while since we've talked about Ray's work and it's always good to see new stuff from him around.

"It’s the freaks who always change the world."

"We brought down the genome patents and open-sourced the medical profession. That was us. We crashed the plastic surgery business. We paved the way for parasite chic. The body became a new kind of playground and we, celebrating the future, we became the Neumod."

In the near-future Neumod culture of parasite addicts and hardcore one-upmanship, Dirk Brody has found love. He’ll do anything to prove himself to the woman of his dreams – even if it means blurring the boundaries of his flesh with the radical, illegal Junction True procedure.

Once he starts, he can never go back…

An ugly tale of beautiful people written by Ray Fawkes (MNEMOVORE, SPOOKSHOW) and illustrated by Vince Locke (DEADWORLD, A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, & SANDMAN). -- 128 pages, a FULL-COLOR graphic novel

Looks like an interesting little book - I can definitely see Locke bringing plenty of ugly body horror to the project.

Sounds cool- Mnemovore and Spookshow were both ace, and I love Locke...

Yeah, think I'll be picking this one up.

Isn't there an Apocalipstix project on the horizon too?

I certainly bought all of Mnemovore and read it, but was it? Was it really? Because I really can't remember.

hahahaetc.

No, because, you see... *kills self*

I honestly can't, though. It was pretty creepy?

Was it really?

It really was. Proper chills, and a final couple of issues that would have been impossible to do outside of comics.

Also, 2008!? Is this the longest anticipation thread (aside from Grant Morrison's work) we've had?

Yes indeed. Ray's written it and I'm knee deep in drawing it. First (of at least 2) 150-page volume coming from Oni Press this summer!

Was it really?

Hell yeah. Mnemovore was some of the smartest, creepiest intellectual horror stories I've read from Vertigo, since well before it was even called Vertigo. Looking forward to Junction True immensely, and I'd say if it's anything like as good as Mnemovore it's deserving of an anticipation thread on the scale of the Grandpa Moomin ones. On the evidence of Mnemovore I'd say that like George Ray Fawkes is one of those rare talents who really knows how to use the medium to tell a story one just couldn't tell in another medium.

Pacific, i thought about this before opening the thread, but since i got the info from Top Shelf's email newsletter I wanted to share it soon because after the email was deleted i'd soon forget.
