Back in the States I always drank Anchor Steam and Staropramen. Since I moved to Korea, I drink anything that isn't local. S.Korean beer is pretty bad.

Until last semester, I hated beer. However, my roommates and I have consumed enough of it, that I have come to very much enjoy certain beers. My favorite would have to be Red Stripe, followed by a two-way-tie for 2nd place involving Shiner and Guiness. With enough lime, I'll drink a Tecate.

Sadly, the most frequently consumed beer on my campus is Keystone light, which I refuse to believe is actually safe for human consumption.

Tecate.... ewwww... Almost every brand of beer in Mexico is pretty good, with the exception of that one.

My younger brother got me hooked on Faxe a 10% Danish beer. It's the only high alcohol beer I've ever had that actually tastes good.

Otherwise, I seem to like almost any beer. Dark ones are my favourite, and oddly almost anything from the major breweries I find godawful. Molson, Labatts, Bud, Coors, etc. no thank you....

I wasn't really sold on the idea of fresh beer until a trip to the Firestone Brewery where they have all their stuff on tap, but will also fill a big jug of the fresh stuff for you to take home. They advise you to drink it with a day or two, and I must say it was really delicious. I had no idea that beer was something where freshness made such a distinct difference. I quite liked both the pale ale and the lager. I tend to prefer lighter beers to richer ones.

Finally had Red Stripe last night, a pretty good beer.

Try as I might, I cannot get behind Hefeweizen. Not that bad, but I'd never buy it myself.

does anyone know somewhere to get Root Beer in the UK - I know of one chinese cafe in Shepherds Bush, and that's it.

I've never seen it outside the US. But Dandelion and Burdock is a UK version, isn't it?

Since I'm here - I always try the week's specials in local ales, otherwise my favourite is Smithwicks. But I will try anything - I decide on the spur of the moment, which is a comfort, given what I've been hearing on the radio this morning. It seems that if you have one drink that you always order and stick to, you're much more likely to become alcoholic.

I'd say my tipple is Fosters. Strong flavour with a bit of bite to it. Plus it was the cheapest beer at my local for a good while. These days it's the cheapest relative only to the rest of the expensive shite they sell.

I know it's a bit trendy to say this, but at a lot of the parties I go to these days (you'd hate me if I told you who was on the guest list!) everyone likes to drink Carlsberg Special Brew, and Tennant's Super. I'm sure Stella McCartney wouldn't mind me saying that she can't get enough of ... I can't really go on with this, can I?

I miss Dixie Beer. Post-Katrina, the brewery relocated somewhere further in-state and that's a shame.

Best. Beer. Ever.

Kali, you know what that means, surely?

ROADTRIP!!

Yeah, but the best thing about Dixie Beer was that it was a beer that was brewed in the city. Relocating it means it's no longer an original New Orleans beer. No fair.

Abita is good in a pinch, though. Mmmm. Abita.
