OK, riddle me this. Haunted house cartoon, American, possibly Tex Avery, certainly in his style. Very like "The Old Dark House" and its variants. It starts with a live action criminologist setting the scene, then a detective dog (love the alliteration in this one) turns up to investigate a murder in said mansion. Ghosts, monsters and all kinds of sight gags plague him, until the killer is revealed to be the criminologist from the opening sequence...
Extra hint: at one point, they pull the old gag of having the silhouette of someone getting up in the front row of the cinema at the bottom of the screen. The detective yells for everyone to sit down. Doesn't really work on TV, clearly.
Extra extra hint: He opens a closet door and yells 'Who's there?'
A skeleton emerges and says 'A skeleton', which is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, ever.
Go on, HELP. I need to find this somewhere. Defining moment in my childhood and all that. |
