I've realised that there are some topics that people may not wish to talk openly about. Espescially in an SBR setting.

So I've set up an open gmail account for us all. If people don't want their suit assosciated with a particular post then they can log into the account and email another lithmonster from there. But, an open email account has obvious risks, so it's probably better to think of this as an experiment rather than a permanent measure.

The one thing that the project is missing is somewhere for secret-people to email their posts too. If people want to offer up their services and addresses then this is the thread to do that.

Also the thread to discuss any problems that arise.

I give it about a day before someone changes the password. That's usually about right.

If not, given that Barbelith is currently set up to prevent trolls being able to post freely, and that one method for preventing trolls from posting freely is to link people's statements with a unique identitiy, how do you plan on treating the emails you receive?

If it's trollish then I'll delete it. If it's not I'll pass it on.

The ability to email me (potentially others) with a request to copy-and-paste isn't really going to be a risk to the board. If I posted a tonned of trollish stuff (even if I claimed it to be someone else's words) then I'd expect to be brought up on it. As it is the only risk is that trolls might fill my inbox with crap.

OK - so, it's your editorial choice, or the editorial choice of whoever else volunteers to receive emails, with the responsibility for what is said resting with the person who chooses to post it?

Might be interesting. It's a more robust implementation than the last time we did this.

I'm not sure where it is, but it was a sexy thread. Somebody posted the password to a suit, for shared and anonymous posts. Somebody took it over and changed the password pretty much immediately.

There was also the hoopla suit in the BDSM thread, which worked quite well, I think. I'm pretty sure it lasted a while before someone got in and changed the password.

Legs Akimbo was created for the sole purpose of posting to the Barbeslash thread. It was pretty out there, that thread -- I wasn't particularly surprised that someone disabled the suit at the time.

Generally, I think this protested posting idea is great. Especially for the SBR threads. And I trust Princess to manage it with hir usual scholar and a gentleman-ness.

Apparently I've been giving out my wrong email address to people. I've modded the opening post to correct the mistake.
