Being a huge Animation fan I've known about Hentai for quite some time but gone out of my way to avoid it.
My first exposure was the infamous Lord of the Overfiends, which, at the time, I found quite repulsive. I didn't get the whole tentacle rape thing.
Not to long ago I decided to go on an Internet hentai spree. I was not prepared for the sights ahead. Cow women (I use the term loosely) being milked, sexual torture, child abuse, homosexual and/or BDSM sex and rape (just for starters) staring fan favorites such as Team Rocket, Card Captor Sakura and Mega Man.
(For those interested I recommend the Portal of Evil. Type 'Hentai' into the search engine.)
I ran the gut of emotions looking at Hentai; fascination, repulsion, shock, humor, elation - all mixed up in varing quantities. Very mindwarping, espically the stuff with established characters - my saturday mornings are ruined.
How should Hentai be classified? Why is it so extream? Can anyone put it in context with Japanese culture, otaku or otherwise?
