Does anyone here know the show D.I.Y. S.O.S.? A post-Changing Rooms TV show where people who saw Changing Rooms but failed to marshall to their cause professional help, friends, or the dream of meager media exposure in the early stages of their home remodelling misadventures, and then had to bid for a team of professionals to ugly and actually professional to make it in the world of proper domestic telly.
That's not what this thread's about. This thread's about the fact that the last time I saw this show it was on the periphery of a familial, cold-eyed junkie need to consume more time-limit domestic challenges. For months, telly bacome a giant, meta, shit Crystal Maze. Maybe you did too. If you did, it has since become some kind of sense holocaust.
First of all, I caught it today and it spend a good two minutes have close-ups of several DIYers eyes, with v/o telling me what they were thinking. Then there was a long, stilted conversation about how cows give badgers T.B.. Then the presenter, Nick Knowles, went to a field and talked to a man in a cow suit who said this was true. Then there was a montage in which two people exchanged monosylabic opposites while a third looked commedically between them, out of sync. Then the cow from earlier walked through the room, farted, and everyone had a discussion baout E.U. regulations on methane emissions. And then and then and then.
Everyone should watch this. It's amazing. It's like reality television had a nervous breakdown, jotted its revelation down on a piece of paper and, Andromeda-like, became an empty shell of a product, gibbering wildly to a market that doesn't care. It's like Zembla for crap.
Please someone tell me how this wonderful failure happened, and share in my warm warm joy. |
