The comics of Paul Scott and other small press gems

Now I'm lucky enough to consider Paul Scott something of a mate. Now I've admitted that I can also say I'm something of a fan of his comics - hence this thread.

He self-publises two titles, Solar Wind and Omnivistascope and both are well worth seeking out.

Solar Wind is an affectionate tribute to the comics we all grew up with. Each issue has a particular theme as Solar Wind absorbs another rival ("Good news readers!"). Funny, fond, and with a free gift. John Wagner, no less, said "as a parody it was spot on. Haven't enjoyed a comic so much in ages, really took me back" and it's a former Eagle Award nominee and winner in the indie catagory at Bristol in 2004.

Omnivistascope is an anthology of purely Paul written skiffy stories drawn by the best of the small press artists. A very British confection with a mix of sci-fi stories ranging from the comic to the serious published in book form it reminds me of pulp sci-fi mags like Amazing Stories! but with better quality paper.

The web-site's (http://www.omnivistascope.com/) out of date but if you find his comics in your local shops small press section you'd be well advised to try them.

Now this is a blatent gush about his comics but I really think they're great. I'd also like similar endorsements of other comics. Share your enthusiasm and tell me what to buy.

I am probably one of the top 3 fans of the AP comic GOLD DIGGER. While it started out as a bit of a T&A book, over the last 15 years it's grown into a quite intriguing universe. And it's had the same writer/artist throughout.
