My friend played me a track from an EP he'd just bought.
It's a live recording from an LA radio station.
It is one guy, singing in a hgh falsetto and playing acoustic guitar.
He is accompanied by beats made with a sequencing program on a Game Boy.
The CD itself comes, not in a box, but on a blank ceramic tile with a rubber nipple in the center.
Darrin Weiner (Beat and tech guy from Modest Mouse) is in the band. As is Jeremiah Green (Modest Mouse) and James Bertram (Built to Spill)
The most bizarre thing about the recording is that the music is somehow great - even if I hadn't known about how it was made and packaged, I still would have liked it. As it is, I love it and want to know more.
Barbelith, what can you tell me about Psychic Emperor? |
