I quite like the whole setup behind it, the attacks, the breakdown of the nation, the lack of information and so on, but I think they could have done a lot better. You've got the blessed Greene family who are super best at everything and everyone loves them (two brothers, with at least two girls wanting them each). And the evil populistic and incompetent Gray. It feels so very two-dimensional.
I agree with the comments about the sound, it is quite bad. I especially dislike it when they have songs with words being sung right through pieces of dialogue. Or how about the scene when crazy gracie lies on the floor, dying after being stabbed and you hear the singer sing "Be careful what you wish for"... just so wrong.
Speaking of Crazy Gracie, that became my nickname for her after a while. She really went all over the place, from shy and bulldozed into giving up everything she had, to charging crazy prices, to giving away pesticides, to charging crazy prices again, to breaking her deal with "the bad guys" for one with "the good guys". Seems like she got a good heir though, Dale who seems to be growing into a combination of Crazy Gracie and Gruesome Gray, willing to kill those he doesn't like, and generally not caring about anyone but himself.
I might keep watching the series though, it's on the border of being good enough to keep up with, and I have to admit that I'm curious where they are going with the bigger scheme of things. |
