Shooting War-A Blogger in Baghdad

Alright, I was snooping aroud on the GNN yesterday, and I found a link to this comic, Shooting War. It's great. That's really all I have to say. I'm on chapter 7 as of right now, and this one's a bloody page turner.

It's about a blogger who witnesses a terrorist attack, gets it on film, becomes famous because of this, and is then paid to go off to Baghdad and report on the war. It takes place a few years in the future, (2011, if I'm not mistaken), and so far it's got me hooked, and I figured a few of you might want to read it.

Good call. I probably should have mentioned that.

Fans of Goldman's art should check out his "Kelly" strip over on Act-I-Vate.

I can't describe it other than totally, totally fucked up and disturbing, but it's really good.

Alright, I've just finished reading this comic, and I really enjoyed it. It brings up alot of socio-political points, and the 'just-slightly-ahead-of-us' timeline made for a lot of interesting potential ideas for what is going to happen in Iraq over the next few years.

There was a single point that really stuck with me though, and the line can be found at the bottom of the page that grant linked to. It is showcasing the fact that citizen investigators are becoming more and more common, with people showing interest in the world around them, and trying to make a difference, or at the very least, an informed opinion.

The line was "If citizens are journalists, then who will be the audience?"

It's sitting open on my desktop, but I haven't clicked through more than a couple of pages - It is the content that is failing to grab me, I guess it is just further evidence that I have a real resistence to comics on the web.
