TriPolitica

What with the recent Topics of Concern, I thought I'd bring this TriPolitica thing back up. It seems to have been presented back in early '05 as The Future of Barbelith (or at least a strong possible future), and subsequently dropped. It gets mentioned in threads from time to itme, such as this one, but doesn't seem to have come up in any of the current threads talking about policy overhaul.

Has it been permanently shelved?

Don't know, but I doubt it'll ever happen here.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I'm not sure that putting a system like that into practice could ever be practical on a board that's already established.

I feel like Tripolitica seems more like the future of Digg.com than the future of barbelith these days. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing - but I think for tripolitica to be worth the effort of its creation, it needs to be constructed around a less introspective discussion arena.

Unfortunatly, my life gets more and more complicated and also actively depressing, the list of things I need to be doing gets longer and longer (currently, getting therapy, taking beta blockers, trying not to cry a lot and filling in a visa application to move to the US for a job at Yahoo that I have to be honest, I'm really not enjoying at all), and as a result, probably things have got worse for me in terms of out of work creativity rather than better. Case in point, now I no longer have time for Barbelith work OR for plasticbag.org. Very frustrating. Big things I'd like to make in the world that are nowhere. I find this upsetting.

On that note, can I point you in the direction of this discussion, Tom - specifically the posts from about halfway in.

Tom, have a hug, dude. I assume we'll be seeing no big changes to Barbelith in the future, (in the thread Randy links to). I was pressing for clarity on this, that's all.

somehow, I´m crying "Open Source It Allready", but of course this is delusional. I´m no programmer, so I probably could´nt work on the system anyway... And the problems stated in other threads about updating remain... perhaps a separate "sandbox" would be in order, though...
