Oh, and I had posted a review of The Mind is a Liar and a Whore elsewhere online, and figured I'd paste it here too:
Antero Alli is a film maker, an author, an astrologer, a mystic, and an old school Discordian and friend of Robert Anton Wilson. You may have heard of his book Angel Tech, a guide to self-initiation. He's collaborated with Rob Breszny, and if you've seen those gorgeous collaged divination card images on Rob's site, those are Antero's work too. In short, Antero Alli is someone you should look into.
Last night, I attended the premier of his most recent film, The Mind is a Liar and a Whore. It is dedicated to Robert Anton Wilson, and it is one of the most fitting tributes I can think of (strange that it was already completed by the time RAW exited his body, and yet down to the Illuminatus! poster on the wall that just happened to be in the house they were filming at, this is a perfect memorial). The film follows the story of a group of people trapped inside their home together as their city experiences a bioterrorist attack. They question the world, each other, and their selves as they try to somehow make sense of the events going on around them. I won't say any more lest I spoil it for you. This film manages to capture the flavor of RAW's writings, the humor of the mundane and the profundity of the absurd. Find a way to see it. |
