please, don't read this unless you can deal with being quite fucking angry.

woman raped saturday, then clapped in irons and denied EC upon reporting it, released monday.

i hate the world sometimes, i really do.

Jeez. That's awful.

...and FOX 13 does not identify the victims of sexual assault Well GEE that's big of them.

Ugh. That's vile.

I don't jump on the "cops are evil" bandwagon, but I can see why people do.

From the linked story:

"The medical supervisor would not allow her to take the [Morning After] pill because she said it was against her, the supervisor's, religion. So, here we have a medical supervisor imposing her beliefs on a rape victim," claimed the victim's attorney Virlyn Moore.

....

yeah.
that's the fucked up part.
muslims?
they hate women, dontcha know.

Jake, Colossus of Clout

That's possibly the grossest part of the whole sick story, there.

That woman needs to be fired. Yesterday. I hope they can press charges.

Char Aina
19:28 / 30.01.07
sorry, no, that's only one fucked up part.
it's a fucked up part.
the whole thing is seriously fucked up.

i really hope she loses her job, though.
her and the fuckwit jobsworth who was more inclined to deal with an erroneous four year old warrant for payment of restitution than a twelve hour old rape.

They should also be prosecuted. People like that should not be able to abuse their positions. There should be a steep penalty, here, not just firing.

femisting are on it, and they say they found it via feminists to the rescue.

over there, they link to another story of similar calibre on codepink.

I would, personally, like to murder every arsehole involved in this... horribleness. Not because they are (hopefully not for much longer) cops but because they are complete wanking jobsworths.

fuckety fuckety fuck, that's awful.

This made me puke today.

Andrew Bartlett points out that the (Australian) government is planning on revisiting old legislation, formerly rejected, that would mean children legally adopted overseas by gay couples would not be recognised in Australia.

Char Aina

do you have to leave your kids at customs?
man, the australian import restrictions really are strict.

seriously, though, it sounds ridiculous.
the part about skilled worker visas recognising gay couples when spouse visas do not is pretty fucked as well.

you can get you and your partner in if you are both foreign but an essential part of our workforce. however, if you are an australian citizen and marry a pom, say, you can't ship yer spouse or hir kid back over as permanent residents...
da fug?

of course, australia has a dodgy history when it comes to moralising over parental rights.

OK, that would be legally sanctioned child endangerment right there if that was passed!

Another horror story from Florida (link).
A woman went into hospital to give birth, and they cut off both her arms and legs. When she asked them why they did it, the hospital lawyer replied, they won´t tell her, and if she still wants to know, she will have to sue them!

This is so horrible, I´m amazed she didn´t go mad yet.

At this point in my life I could really do without this thread

Oh my god, Mist. No. No. That can't be true, surely? No. I can't check the link right now. As in I physically can't click on it. I don't think I could handle it if it were true.

Jake, Colossus of Clout

God, Mist, I almost threw up when I read that. That's one of my ultimate nightmares.

I don't know how anyone can go into a hospital with any confidence at all.

Well, she did have the (scare quotes warranted) "flesh eating" form of streptococcus, which I'm guessing is why they unfortunately had to remove her limbs. Though having to have them all removed without any surgery on the torso strikes me as pretty odd.

I can't help but wonder though - is "Ms. Mejia's request may require legal resolution" just fancy talk for "someone fucked up so badly we daren't even admit it unless it goes to court"?

Blake Head
16:23 / 01.02.07
I don't think it's to do with whether the procedure was necessary or not, but how much of a headfuck it is not to be told the reasons behind it and to have major surgery done without any notion of awareness or informed consent.

Triplets
16:33 / 01.02.07
Still haven't clicked on it. Christ. You're pregnant, you go to the hospital to give birth. And when you wake up... someone has cut-off your arms and legs. Jesus fuck. That's something out of Saw.

I tried to get more information from the video, but even with three different browsers I can´t get the sound to work.
To me it looks as if, after having screwed up big time, the hospital now uses lawyer tricks to cover themselves as probably their last remaining fig leaf. People can get millions in compensation in US courts, and with the fate of this woman, the jury won´t think twice to making the hospital pay up, and they´ll go bankrupt. And after this debacle whoever is responsible won´t find another job, even if they don´t end up in jail.

A 15-year-old girl was tied to a truck and dragged down a road at a christian boot camp.

"The consent form for the camp, which McClintock signed, makes parents aware that their children can be injured or killed in the attempt to instill discipline, respect and morality in their children."

Oh fuck, I cannot tell you how much I despise those fucking camps, the people tht run them, and most of all the sick, selfish, abusive shitheads who fucking send their own children off to be tortured. Why not go the whole hog and just hire a hit man? I hope the camp councillors end up in gaol, and the parents should be locked up alongside them.

I thought this thread is more specific, since it´s mostly about horrific news.

"You can't agree to have your child killed."

Noooo, that's called murder but give this case the right all-American judge and I'm pretty sure that they'll get off because the abusers are good Christians!
