NYC Live Comic Book Talk Show; Good Stuff

OK, first off, this isn't something I'm involved in at all (i.e. not to be confused with my internet radio comics & pop culture show, The Action Room, which has its own Creation thread), I'm purely a fan and frequent audience member.

I heard about this at Midtown Comics...a live talk show where they discuss, of course, comics. Picture a Siskel & Ebert weekly review show (where they give their opinions on a weekly selected 'stack' of that week's books) along with a Jay Leno/David Letterman kind of wacky talk show feel.

The comedians/improv actors are comic fans themselves, quite hardcore, and manage to walk the line between being cool and accessible and still quite dorky. They make the show friendly for those who are not as knowledgeable about comics, as well. AND, they always have special guests, which usually falls into:

a) one or two people employed in the comics industry or in some related field

b) a comedy musical guest, usually Tenacious-D type stuff from the world of comedy/improv, since the guys who do the show have a lot of connections in that area. People who have gigs with Comedy Central, Spike TV, or local hot NYC comedy troupes, etc.

All for the low low price of $5!!!

Every Tuesday night, 9:30 pm, at the PIT
(the People's Improv Theater)

which is on 29th Street between 6th and 7th Ave., much closer to 7th. (right near FIT)

The PIT's website (along with the NYTimes mention on the front page, upper right hand corner) is HERE.

oh, and the show is sponsored by Midtown Comics, which hosts a trivia game during the show every week as well, the prize being a $25 gift certificate to Midtown Comics, a truly cool comics store (I don't work there either).

Highly recommended for comics-minded Barbelithers in NYC.

Joe Quesada himself is going to be at this Tuesday night's show (Feb. 6), promoting the Stephen King comic book.

They need to get this broadcast on BCAT or something.
