Any thoughts (old or new) that make you feel good

I feel noticeably fulfilled after an hour on Barbelith.

But today I am in a strange mood. My mind feels occupied and thinking on all the wrong things. I lead an averagely successful life in the U.S., but have a family emergency that calls me to Japan-very soon. This is not a life or death situation. But living through it is much harder than just having to hear about it. The world has turned for me but I’m not sure I want to rotate with it.

So Barbelith, I don’t know what I am looking for but whatever it is I will be thinking on it as I read through these forums tonight.

Sometime when I write I feel like I'm on fire and everything is made of light.

This is my happy thought. I send it to you.

A happy thought about going to Japan:

Even though the odds of actually being in Japan and seeing Godzilla rise and destroy Tokyo are very very very very very very very very slim, they are better than the odds of being in America and seeing Godzilla rise and destroy Tokyo.

So you are improving your odds of seeing Godzilla destroy Tokyo by infinity per cent.

That should make anybody happy.

MattShepherd, your Godzilla theory has made me happy as I now realized I can apply your logic to Canada and Sasquatch.

I hope you've read 'Watchmen' or that's going to make very little sense.

It really should cheer you up that there are people in the world, WITH WHOM YOU'RE ACTUALLY IN CONTACT, who can come up with that Godzilla theory.

It certainly works for me.

ONLY NICE THINGS

In the gym last night, they had (coincidental) news footage on TV of a man doing sit-ups next to a giant, hairless pink seal-like animal about nine feet long.

Which was also doing sit-ups.

It was _great_

What kind of crazy animal was that? Nine foot long pink seals sound terrifying.

I saw that and can attest to it's greatness indeed.

The animal in question was a walrus, and he was doing sit-ups becuse he is overweight and needs to exercise. See Newsround for more details.

The very idea of kitty tummies makes me smile.

The last time I was in the gym, I found myself enthralled by the WWF wrestling; not for the actual wrestling, more because of the Sign-Language interpreter in a 'nice' sweater / jeans combo in the bottom right-hand of the screen signing everything the commentators said.

Slightly surreal.

On the music channels from about 3am onwards, they have people doing sign language too. There are about five different people who do it, but my favourite is this middle-aged, slightly overweight woman who dances along to the music while signing it. It is a thought that brings me unspeakable happiness during harsh times.

How do you sign "This time you're going down, Scufflin' Hillbillies! We're gettin that belt back if we have to fight you and the Shaolin Zombies in a Texas Death Match!" ?

"In case of emergency break glass" Im considering carrying around a pane of glass to see what effect breaking it will have.

very good stuff guys. I took the day off and drank some beers and listened to some music and now I am reading the Barb. And I have realized this: Barbelith and beer are good together!

Listening to an old recording of Nina Simone singing "Feeling Good" makes me intensely happy. Especially when she launches into a burst of pure voice right near the end...

ahh, nina... s'my fave-est song, too!

it's the weekend, and i'm off home from work in a minute (yay!) to cook a creamy blue cheese pasta sauce with chicken and sundried tomatoes, eaten with SO and sundry friends, with beer and wine. that makes me feel inspired. hope it helps someone else, too...

Brie melted onto Italian bread in the oven. I've run out of brie and it's too freezing to run down to market so I've made do with smoked cheddar. Either way, fancy cheese on toast: yum! I wish I had some pasta, though. Do some grocery shopping in the morning, I think.

I want that. I have yum envy.

more because of the Sign-Language interpreter in a 'nice' sweater / jeans combo in the bottom right-hand of the screen signing everything the commentators said.

I actually think sign language is generally all round inspiring and beautiful. I quite often watch repeat programmes on the BBC so I can watch the signing people. I think the shapes they make for the words are lovely. The word for birthday cake is shaped by making a crab shape with one hand, fingers down, on the top of your flat palm down other hand (that's cake) and then you blow from right to left to make it birthday cake. How perfect is that?
