Are there any good tea shops in London?

I've got a friend coming over from the states and he's a huge tea fan, considers himself a bit of a connoisseur - so I was hoping to take him to a/some great tea shops (or shops that happen to have a wide selection of teas).

Random question I know! But I thought someone might know!

There's a tea shop - the type to buy tea at - on Neal Street in Covent Garden. It's next door to Aldo and opposite Mango. It's the only independent tea selling shop I can think of. Now if you'd asked about cake...

One of the best tea shops in London, which is also a tea museum, happens to be only a leisurely stroll away from my humble abode: The Brahma Museum. They also have a stall in the excellent food'n drink-specific Borough Market by London Bridge every Friday and Saturday. On a sunny day this is one my favourite place to have lunch, like, evva. The market, that is.

The coffee shop on Old Compton Street also sells quite a wide variety of teas, though since it is predominantly a coffee shop (and smells like it) and is retail only, perhaps not what you were after. The Drury Tea and Coffee Co on New Row (off St Martin's Lane) might be worth investigating also and I think has a cafe of some sort, though don't quote me on that.

Fortnum and Mason is famous for it's teas. They even have a whole section of their website dedicated to tea. So for buying tea in packets purposes they're good (although expensive) and I don't know for sure but I'd be very surprised to learn that they didn't also have a place to drink it.
