I am back at work, and back online (no actual connection between the two), and another day older and deeper in debt. Oh, and listening to Johnny Cash even more too - I never realised he did a version (somewhat naughtily credited to himself as songwriter) of the song the Beach Boys covered as "Sloop John B".

I think Childe F had the best New Year ever for a five year old - she was woken up by half of Morning Bride at just past midnight to sing her into 2007. She got to watch Totoro and play puppy games until the wee hours while the adults quaffed whisk(e)y and champagne. It pretty much made my night too.

Where was I? Ah, yes. A happy arbitrary calendar change to you all!

Pass the scotch !?

Happy New Year!!!

A bit late to the wishing of a happy new year, but regardless: Have a great 2007 everyone!

I'm late too, but happy new year everybody! Thanks to my own festive season stupidity, I have already learned two important lessons.

Background - on xmas eve, I left my phone at the home of a friend who promptly sodded off up north for xmas and new year. By the time I got my phone back, I had effectively ignored everyone's xmas and new year wishes, invitations and general greetings. My inbox was full, so I don't even know who I have now ignored and will spend the next week contacting everyone so as not to feel so mean.

Lesson 1 - everybody in the world should have a key buddy. Everyone. I should have been able to pop around to the house of someone else, or meet them in a pub, and get access to my mate's house. This is the kind of stupid situation key buddies are designed to guard against.

Lesson 2 - I should *not just* store phone numbers in my mobile phone. Back it up or write them down, you stupid stupid person.

So, the year begins with new knowledge. Huzzah!

If I had had all your mobile numbers, I would have called you and wished you a drunken Happy New Year's.

Feel very very sorry for the folks whose numbers I DID have.

But Happy New Year regardless, beloved Barbelith!
