The first in a trilogy of short films entitled - The Sacred Book of Black Venus; is now available for on-line viewing.

These three films look at symbols of the dark feminine in the London landscape. The adjective 'dark' refers to her unknowable nature rather than an ethical judgement.

This first film called 'Gateway' explores the Feminine as the passgeway between life & death.

Proper link.

Is it any good? Depends how you feel about four and a half minutes of silent home movies of London churches, intercut with title cards featuring great whacks of text copped from Iain Sinclair in a hard-to-read font on an ugly orange background, all set to John Barry's theme from The Ipcress File.

I don't reckon I got anything out of it that I couldn't have gotten from simply reading the text itself. As such, it fails to justify its existence as a film.

Keep trying.

I have to agree with you about the colour background in retrospect, however the other criticisms seem beside the point as the film is to illustrate the Sinclair text. Oh! I know it's probably down to personal taste, however I still quite like the font!

What does it add? - try atmosphere.

Thanks for the enouragement and I do hope to 'keep trying'!
