AGENTS OF ATLAS

Is anyone else reading AGENTS OF ATLAS? I picked up the first issue and liked it then picked up the fourth and loved it. Super-compressed story-telling, entire battles retold in single splash pages, satanistic funeral homes, enigmatic robots, sci fi toilets...what doesn't this book have.

The thing I'm liking the most is how experimental it is for a mainstream book. Not in terms of form, but in terms of content: there's adult sexuality (somewhat) and a lot of racial politics going on.

I don't have anything more intelligent to say (I don't think I ever do) but I just didn't know if other people were feeling the love.

The Other Thread. Is it still worth reading? It kind of fell off my regular pulls at some point.

Slightly off topic, but I reckon Jeff Parker is one of the unsung heroes of todays comics. His Marvel Adventures Avengers series is great: Kid friendly, but with plenty of jokes that your older geek will get as well as well done super hero fights. His X-Men: First Class mini-series was good as well, and had a guest appearance by the gorilla out of Agents of Atlas.

Yes, FIRST CLASS is astonishingly god & entertaining. Talk about an unexpected gem!

I liked ATLAS, but when I read the HC is was a wee bit tired as I clocked the final two issues, and thus was a little "unsold" on Atlas' secret origins. Still, it was damned fun over all.

The first issue of Spider Man/FF was aces, although issue 2 was not up the the same standard of fun and wit. But I do agree that Parker is VERY talented and hopefully will continue to ply his non-gritty trade on future Marvel projects.
