I wasn't sure if I should post this here in the Temple, in the music forum, or in the comic book forum, but I figured this would be a good try.

I just listened to the last track of Tool's Lateralus for the first time. Seriously freaky. It starts after the 3 minutes or so of silence at the end of the penultimate track, and the sound effects were such that I began thinking of what I had heard about the drug DMT having a sort of alien vibe to it. The lyrics were, surprise, about aliens. It sounded like a seriously terrified guy making a recording while being drowned out by the alien groans.

"I, I don't have a whole lot of time. Um, OK, I'm a former employee of Area 51. I, I was let go on a medical discharge about a week ago and, and... [chokes] I've kind of been running across the country. Damn, I don't know where to start, they're, they're gonna, um, they'll triangulate on this position really soon.

OK, um, um, OK, what we're thinking of as, as aliens, they're extradimensional beings, that, an earlier precursor of the, um, space program they made contact with. They are not what they claim to be. Uh, they've infiltrated a, a lot of aspects of, of, of the military establishment, particularly the Area 51.

The disasters that are coming, they, the military, I'm sorry, the government knows about them. And there's a lot of safe areas in this world that they could begin moving the population to now. They are not! They want those major population centers wiped out so that the few that are left will be more easily controllable."

Immediately after the lyrics finish, there's this ziiooop! noise of the signal being cut off, and an interesting effect was caused by me listening to this on my iPod with the album repeat setting on. It immediately looped back to the beginning of the song "The Grudge" which begins with this whirring sound like an old fashioned movie projector or reel-to-reel being started up, and the song is about the exploitation of Christ as a means of control.

I looked up Faaip De Oiad because it sounded enochian, and I found the following information at one of those song meanings sites.

"Faaip De Oiad" means "Voice of God" in the Enochian language. The Enochian language was invented by Edward Kelley in the 16th Century. Kelley said this language had been revealed to him by angels.

The Art Bell Show, a Nevada-based radio show that purported to discuss conspiracy theories and the paranormal, was the venue for a strange occurrence on September 11, 1997. During an Area 51-themed call-in program, a hysterical man claiming to be a former Area 51 worker called in to warn Bell's listening audience that he knew of a series of impending disasters. This is the source of the monologue on this track. Before the man was finished speaking, the Art Bell show mysteriously left the airwaves for about 30 minutes. Several weeks later, the man called back apologizing for the (apparent) hoax, but the mysterious and somewhat coincidental outage has never been adequately explained. (thanks, Matt - pitts, PA, for above 2)

So, Enochian Angels = Xenodimensionals = "Extraterrestrials?" I am reminded of The Invisibles . I've read about half the series a friend lent me, and have been meaning to pick up the entire series in graphic novel form, but have not got around to it yet.

An occultis I know is unnerved by Enochian magick because he can't help but to feel that "something is off." I have not delved into that system yet, but I plan to. If I recall correctly the "Voice of God" would be Metatron, the Angel of the Presence.

Does anyone know what is going on with all this?

So to summarise:

1. Tool wrote a song.

2. They included a snippet of a hoax/strange call on a radio show where a guy says the things in Area 51 were actually pandimensional beings. The call has got weird spooky conspiracy attached to it.

3. They named the song 'voice of God' using a 'revealed' tongue.

4. The song has weird 'alien noises'. Like what you heard people on DMT sometimes experience.

5. You think Tool are pointing to a possible link between Enochian angels and pandimensional beings. This is like in The Invisibles.

6. You are thinking of looking into Enochian magic, but your friend thinks it's weird stuff.

7. 'Voice of God' Probably has something to do with Metatron.

Or, more simply:

"The band Tool have written a song about a conspiracy theory and linked it to a magical system, which is pretty weird. What about that, eh?"

--

I don't mean to be rude, but could you give us an idea of where you want this discussion to go?

I quite like the conspiracy theory about the guy from area 51. I think it's half interesting that Tool are linking this with a spiritual system. I'm also glad that you had a weird experience. Weird experiences are fun.

But i just don't get what discussion you want to try to have about this. This being a discussion forum and all..

Possible routes you wish to take:

- Talk about the theory that Gods, Angels, Aliens etc. are actually extradimensional beings. I don't know how much could be said about this, and i get the feeling the idea may have been approached before on this site; it being somewhat influenced by the Invisibles.

- Talk about Tool and their use of conspiracy, spirituality and metaphor in their music. This would probably be a discussion for the music forum, unless you wanted to work very hard and take it into the Head Shop.

- Talk about other people's knowledge about Enochian magic. Learn stuff, ask for advice; that sort of thing. That might be better started as a new thread.

- Talk about the links between alien experiences and spiritual experiences. Probably already been approached in a few threads.

- Talk about the idea that enochian angels are actually pandimensional beings who are planning some big destruction of our world. Talk about the possible meaning, reasons and actions-to-be-taken to be found in this idea. This would probebly be pretty hard to form into a substantial discussion.

- Have a general chat about aliens, gods, conspiracies and Tool. Best off in convo.

Again. No rudeness intended. Just that this thread is a bit of a non-starter as-is.

An occultis I know is unnerved by Enochian magick because he can't help but to feel that "something is off."

Does this bloke actually know anything substantial about the subject at all? Is what he has to say based on practial experience ie. actually doing the magic? Or is it based on vauge and unsubstantiated prejudice? Sounds like the later The best way to find out is to ignore him and do it yourself.

One of the worst things about the internet is that endless discussion replaces experience. In occult discussions, this inevitably focuses on giving you reasons why you shouldn't do stuff - varations on "oh, it's a bit scary"! Ignore that. Do stuff. Only way to find out.

Sorry, I'm a bit of an irrational spaz whenever I notice an unanticipated connection that excites me. What struck me as interesting was the possibility that:

"Angels" = Extradimensional beings = "Aliens"

Now "aliens" being extradimensional beings is not a new concept to me, nor is the idea of "aliens" screwing with the development of our species.

However, the possibility that "angels" and "aliens" could be extradimensional beings of a similar nature had not occured to me. It makes an awful lot of sense imho, because what has the divine done for our species? And why? "Why?" is the important question. Animals don't have spiritualities. Perhaps they have souls, but I have yet to see an animal practice any sort of spirituality.

What I am curious about is what is the ulterior motive of what we consider to be gods and angels. Why have they given us consciousness? Or are they simply a product of our consciousness, and we're an accident of evolution? I was wondering if anyone else here ever wonders about this sort of thing, and if so, have they gotten anywhere with that line of thought?

As for the Enochian Magick, yeah, the friend of mine has significant experience with Enochian magick, but I'm not about to take his word as gospel. I have zero experience with it myself at this point in time, but nevertheless found his perception of it interesting in connection with the ideas I had at the moment of starting this thread. Could there be hidden drawbacks in the system that would serve the purposes of the beings that revealed it to Dee?
