Scriptshop are a Leigh, Lancashire, based group of writers who meet weekly to share newly written scripts, workshop them, and offer critiques, advice and support.

Scriptshop have recently recieved lottery fund money to organise a series of workshops and caberets for the performance of new short play scripts. An open submission policy will choose the scripts which are to be publicly performed by proffesional actors.

Scriptshop are looking for 10 minute scripts featuring no more than 3 actors (2 female, 1 male). If you have want to enter the competition you also have the opportunity to take part in workshops leading up to the performances. The workshops and performances will take place around the Wigan Metropolitan Borough.

There will be three performances and we are looking to perform 12 different scripts at each of the cabarets so there are 36 chances to get your work acted before an audience.

The first workshop will take place in Leigh on December the 9th 2006, contact me for details if you wish to attend. The first cabaret is going to take place at the start of 2007 and the scripts submitted for the first cabaret have to be recieved by December 27th.

The first caberet will have the theme 'haunted' (with the theme for the second cabaret to be 'Life Sentence') so if you have an idea for a short play on that theme that fulfills the loose criteria then please submit it to
SCRIPT SHOP,
PO BOX 115,
LEIGH,
WN7 2WU.

The scripts will be chosen by an adjudicating panel comprising a dramaturge, the performance director, and a member of scriptshop. Feedback will be provided so an S.A.E. would be appreciated.

And do all scripts have to be for 2 women and one man or just variants thereof, i.e. 2 women, a woman and a man, a single woman, a single man etc.?

Anyone can enter from anywhere. Geography will not be a deciding factor though if you're travelling for the workshops let us know you're coming so we can set aside a chair and sort out refreshments.

Any combination of actors is acceptable. Variety is an asset.

Thanks for the move to the right forum, thanks for your questions, send us your scripts!
