So, after the mammoth merriment and guitar-smashing of Acid Mothers Temple et al last Sunday, what can Kosmische offer next?
Well, not Kosmische putting the events on this time around, but we'll be playing some records and hanging out at these:
Friday 1st December sees the premier ten years to the day after the events depicted of Nobody Knows If It Ever Happened, a concert film of Faust's legendary two nights at The Garage in London in 1996. This is one of the best gig films I've ever seen, and really manages to capture the feeling of being in the prsence of a band at the height of their arc-welding, hay-blowing, metal-bashing, folk-strumming, smoke-bombing, all-round art-erroristic powers.
All this and a Q&A from Jean-Hervé Peron of Faust and Andy Wilson, author of the new book on the band, plus the launch of a boxed CD/DVD set of new material from last year's storming UK tour (which my band the Stëllä Märïs Drönë Örchëstä were lucky enough to play on part of, and indeed our own Lord Nuneaton Savage was a stage-storming participant in at the Brighton gig).
It's at the ICA Cinema, and I'll be playing records in the bar (and watching the film again)
Then on Sunday 3rd December we're back at Corsica Studios for a free gig by Faust themselves as part of Elefest, plus support from Steeple remove and the long-thought disappeared kling Klang, who finally have their debut album out on Rock Action Records. It's free, but not as in turn up on the door and pop in - you have to send an email to info at corsicastudios dot com saying you would like to come to the gig as places will be limited. Once again, we'll be providing the disc-spinning in the main room, while the lovely Guerrilla Zoo take the audio-visual controls underneath the adjoining railway arch. |
