Montreal is someplace I've always wanted to see. I work like a dog from June-September, so May might be nice.

Montreal in May to me says Mutek

Papess
13:17 / 20.11.06
MUTEK 2007, the 8th edition of the MUTEK festival, will take place in Montreal from Wednesday May 30th until Sunday June 3rd, 2007.

The timing of the Mutek festival seems to be ideal, IMHO.

Except, the 30th of May is a Tuesday.

Maybe it's a Wednesday in Canada? They do tend to do things....oddly there. Actually, I just glanced at my calendar, and it is a Wednesday everywhere. Mayhaps you were looking at 2006 as opposed to the May that hasn't happened yet?

The timing of the festival and the festival itself sound exceptional. Could this turn out to be The Best Barbemeet Ever!®?

Did we decide May in Montreal then?

Ho ho! Well, what do ya know....silly me.

The Barbe-meet will be in Montreal in May.

I have spoken.

Now PM me and let me know who plans on showing up.

MattShepherd: I WEDDED KALI!
18:08 / 22.11.06
PM my arse. I publicly state I WILL BE THERE.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
18:27 / 22.11.06
That's one, then.

We'll need to work out accomodations, length of stay, etc.

I too am quite interested in attending. Funding is an issue, but luckily I have a birthday coming up (as well as that Jesus chap's birthday) and generous relatives. I'll be able to confirm one way or the other in a week or so, but go ahead and assume I'm in.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh

I would surmise unless all of us are closet millionaires, funding will be an issue for all of us.

I will try to be there! Count me....a quarter in!

diz

I won't know if I'm in for a number of months. Go ahead and presume I'm not coming, and if I can make it, I'll try to make it.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
14:31 / 24.11.06
Okay, now we need to decide in May. And we also need to keep an eye on Matt so he doesn't try to put anthrax in my luggage. :P

I, of course, will be attending this. I can provide accomodations for people under a couple of conditions:

1. You are not a nutter. It would be best if you are someone who can give me references from other lithers. Not about being a nutter, but that you are a known person here on Barbelith. Just for my own reassurance. If I already know you, skip this.

2. That you can abide by my smoking rules. - Which means basically, that there is no smoking indoors, but you can smoke on the balcony or in my workshop.

3. It would be very helpful if people could bring their own blanket or sleeping bag.

Baz has stayed over my place before, (and of course you are most definately welcome back). However, I do not live in the same place as I did then. I live on the island now, close to downtown and the Metro is right down my street. It is much more convenient.

I can sleep up to about 8 people, especially if you come in pairs and can share a futon with another person that you would feel comfortable sharing one with. I have two double futons, a single cot, and double inflatable mattress, plus my own bed, which I will offer a side of to my buddy Keggers...since I don't mind sharing my sleeping quarters with him.

This could be a lot of fun. A Barbelith Pyjama Party!

Yeah, I'll be there.

Can we do each other's hair?

Papess
15:22 / 27.11.06
You are in luck, Kali. There is a store that sells hairpieces in the neighbourhood! Also, an abundance of curry houses, if you like that sort of thing.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
16:45 / 27.11.06
Whee! Sounds like fun!

Nobody does Kegger's hair but Keggers.

Negotiations with Electrix have come to an agreeable conclusion. Now that I have lodging, I am even more determined to get there, even if it means plunging myself even further into credit card debt.

Papess
13:50 / 28.11.06
Yay! Charrellz!

I just want to point out that my neighbours do have two beuatiful dogs. One is rather large, a Neopolitan Mastiff and the other an English Bulldog.I hope no one is afraid of dogs or severely allergic. I do not have pets, and I will thoroughly vaccum the entrance of doggie fur, so it shouldn't be a problem unless someone has a severe allergy. as for their temperment, those dogs are the sweetest.

I apologize for being a worrier, but I just want to make certain people will be comfortable.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
14:10 / 28.11.06
Count me in at staying at your place.

If that's okay.

Papess
14:17 / 28.11.06
Kali, your steet cred is good here. It would be my pleasure!

So that is: Keggers, Kali and Charrellz, plus myself - thus far.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
14:28 / 28.11.06
I think MattS is in.

Papess
14:54 / 28.11.06
Yes, he did say he was in. I am just not sure if he will need accomodations.

On the downside: I only have one bathroom.

On the upside: have a modified box of sorts, that has many episodes of:

Doctor Who
A League of Gentlemen
The IT Crowd
The 4400
The Maxx
Mythbusters and Nova

...for some indoor entertainment, on hopefully, a new flatscreen TV I am planning on buying in January.

We might want to make an itinerary of some outdoor activities people would be interested in doing. I think we should firm up the dates and the length of time peope will stay. I am thinking people might want to stay, depending on where they are from, for about 2 to 10 days. I think that is reasonable.

Where are people coming from, anyway?

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
15:08 / 28.11.06
I'll be coming from good old Georgia.

You have Mythbusters? With my baby daddy?

Papess
15:21 / 28.11.06
Your baby daddy?

Wow, Georgia! Very nice. Never been there, but it looks more inviting now!

I would like to recommend, for those wishing to use hotel accomodations, Ruby Foo's. It is close to airport, my place and walking distance to the Metro. I suspect it is more reasonably priced than downtown accomodations. Plus, there is a great sushi bar there and a Tim Horton's across the street!

16:09 / 28.11.06
Your baby daddy?

I am not a woman inclined whatsoever to have children, but for Tory Belleci, my ovaries are available. It'd be a shame not to pass on that kind of pretty.

Ahem.

So when in May?

charrellz
19:27 / 28.11.06
The Maxx is reason enough for me to venture into Canadia.

I'm coming from Texas. Should probably see about getting my passport in order.

As for when, I think the Mutek festival is an attraction for some, if so, then we're looking at end of May / early June. Maybe everybody show up a few days before or stick around for a few days after? If the festival is scrapped as a main attraction, then after the 11th of May or so is fine for me, and depending on which job I choose as my primary means of employment this summer, I could be gone well into June without too much trouble. However, I am not suggesting a month long barbemeet, just saying that's a good window.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh

Well, I can watch Mythbusters here. The lure is meeting all of you lovelies.

"Well, I can watch Mythbusters here. The lure is meeting all of you lovelies."

Plausible.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh

When I get there, can we change that to Confirmed?
