Gah,

I am out of town.

More please.

10:40 / 13.10.06
In terms of more MB gigs in the near future, I think the phrase to coin is "watch this thread" (in other words, there will be!)

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
15:25 / 13.10.06
I'll try to make it along before work, but I have no dogsitter that night, so it could be a bit tricky.

ghadis
20:28 / 13.10.06
I'll try and make it. Barracuda is a restaurant isn't it? So i would be able to bring along my 15year old son?

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
20:54 / 13.10.06
Only if he's willing to stand his round.

ghadis
06:42 / 14.10.06
I'll make sure he goes without mobile phone credits for a month.

illmatic
06:27 / 15.10.06
I see no reason why I will not be present.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
10:06 / 15.10.06
So i would be able to bring along my 15year old son?

Yep, that'll be no problem - Barracuda is very chilled and child *-friendly.

The gig will be in the basement, which is a very nice little place to have gigs like this.

*well, young adult in this case, obviously

Mono
14:58 / 16.10.06
Sorry, I've been offline for a few days. It will be totally awesome if you bring your son, ghadis!

Be sure to get there early for the other bands and poetry as well. It's a little basement room and fills up quickly.

And for those of you who can't make the Barracuda show, we're doing a short acoustic set at a vegan cafe in Hackney called Pogo not sure what time though...

Speaking of time - whenabouts do you think you'll be playing, Mono?

Persephone
13:17 / 17.10.06
Mono, you know that song that goes "I know not what I do" ...have you recorded that, or do you have plans to record it?

Regrettable Juvenilia
13:59 / 18.10.06
I will probably come to this! Anyone up for It Came From The Sea afterwards?

Regrettable Juvenilia
14:04 / 18.10.06
Which is just down the road at Bardens, I hasten to add.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
18:37 / 18.10.06
Yay. It's going to be a proper Barbegathering all right. Not sure about ICFTS afterwards. Last time I tried going I was hideously drunk before I even got in; I may have been ejected, even.

Mono
05:21 / 20.10.06
Sorry- no internet!

Haus: we should be on at around 9.30-10
Persephone: the song is 'faith is blind' and we are planning to record it in november. it sounds amazimg with cello!

yawn - thing's buddy
09:58 / 20.10.06
mmmm....I live in stoke newington - well stamford hill really - I feel I should check this out.

and 'it came from the sea' is vaguely tempting. not sure why, but it is.

maybe spy you there.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
13:10 / 20.10.06
Yawn: you most definitely should.

Seriously though, if you plan coming along, good Barbelithites, do get there really early. The basement gets crowded very easily.

okay - thanks for the advice.

and good luck with the show too.

When's kick-off, then?

ghadis
20:53 / 20.10.06
I'll get there around 7.30ish then (with mini-ghadis) to get a ringside seat and maybe some grub. Looking forward to it.

Regrettable Juvenilia
00:43 / 21.10.06
Is mini-ghadis a cross between a smarter AJ Soprano and a less murderous junior Bruce Wayne? If so, he sounds like my perfect wingman. Let's do it!

ghadis
07:29 / 21.10.06
I'll tell him to bring his nunchucks and knukle dusters but to keep them hidden away in his back pack along with his ipod and well thumbed copy of The Bad Seed. He'll be the one sat in a corner in a hoodie.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
08:04 / 21.10.06
Hoodies in Barracuda?! Heavens forfend, I'm sure. 7.30's a good time to arrive for the ringside, though I suspect soundchecking will still be going on then - so a perfect opportunity to grab some food upstairs. Their food is delicious too - Malay/Pacific Rim/sub-continental.

Otherwise, matters are supposed to begin around 8pm.

The MB set at Pogo last night was a good warm up for tonight's show, and the full band set should be storming on the form the new guitarist and especially cellist were demonstrating. The cello is just about perfect for Morning Bride.

It could all get quite mysteriously LARPish...

(dissolve)

You are in the basement in a mysterious tavern in the artists quarter of the city. It is dark. A band of minstrels is playing. Seated in the shadows of the booth in the farthest corner of the bar are two hooded figures. One seems youthful and has the aura of magyckal ancestry about him. The other on closer inspection does not have a face, but instead is only a naked brain suspended in a glass vial atop the shoulders of a shambling, but elegantly-tailored, giant.

What do you do now? >

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
13:40 / 21.10.06
Offer the brain in the jar a drink.

ghadis
00:50 / 22.10.06
Much fun there tonight. Morning Bride sounded great. Cello stuff is fantastic. Was getting slightly pissed off with noisy hobbits for a while but they shut up when people told them to shut the fuck up.

Mini ghadis loved it and has spent the last hour or so downloading MB songs and putting a MB video on his bebo website thing (don't ask me...i have no idea what technology he is using...it all flitters past me in a swirl of, 'No press this..No!..This!...No!..Move over, let me sit down Dad') He enjoyed his first gig though (although i think he has blanked out many dreary pub things i dragged him to at an early age).

Also a huge plus point was bumping into Gyrus and getting some copies of his Dreamflesh anthology. Looks fantstic. Get a copy people!

I'm back in the arms of MOTHER HACKNEY.

And I don't even live in Hackney!

01:50 / 22.10.06
Hackney lives in you though mate! Hackney lives in all us!!

Mon Oncle Ignatius
18:44 / 22.10.06
There is a corner of a foreign* field which is forever (in the bosom of Mother) Hackney.

We accept you. One of us! One of Us!

*Like, say, dunno, Camden or even Lewisham.

This band is great. It makes me want to create a black biro fan-art zine with overly literal illustrations of the lyrics.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
12:00 / 23.10.06
They so need to put that on press releases.

Mono
13:30 / 23.10.06
We just might....

Seriously, thanks everyone so much for coming! 'Twas a great night!!! I'm so chuffed that mini-ghadis liked it so much. We were someone's first gig-it is an honor.
