Can anyone enlighten me about this book?
The Tao of Physics by Fritjof Capra. Any links to extracts or personal opinions greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I haven't read it but my brother has. He said it was attempt at unifying Eastern mysticism with the linear Western, logic.

I read it.

It's not so much unifying eastern mysticism with western logic as it is exploring the parallels between eastern mystycism and modern physics, as it says on the cover.

I'm not sure what you would like out of the book. All the information given in the book is accurate, as far as my studies in particle physics go. He'll oscillate back and forth between a discussion of eastern philosophies and a discussion of particle physics. Then he'll show how they seem to coincide.

It's written by a particle physicist, so it doesn't try to make mundane statements seem profound. The book is interesting, easy to read, and informative.

Hi - first posting to this BB.

I've not read The Tao of Physics, but I have read The Web Of Life by Capra, and it would seem to be much grander in its themes.

He ties together systems theory, complexity, chaos maths, ecology, physics, Gaia (plus a lot more) into a very persuasive argument against the ingrained Western way of viewing life as seperate and non-connected. I highly recommend it.
