God help me - I am leaping to RRM's defence.

Mordant - Wizard in this context is a reference to the glossy magazine Wizard, a kind of fanboy bible, with the latest hot news and previews. Considered to be an industry rag, it is spurned by people who like seeing Wolverine touch Emma Frost's tits with his claw but in a really clever way. Thus, a Wizard-type is a fatbeard, fanboy or choose-your-own-derogatory-term for the indiscriminate comics bottom-feeder.

Which was just one aspect of the beauty that was the Knodge.
