full album of LARRIKIN LOVE just landed on my desk and i gave it a quick listen through.
don't even know if this is release in the u.k. yet or not.

anyway, what do you think? cheap ARCADE FIRE imitation with less imagination or very innovative punkish folk-rock?

i really can't make up my mind about it. i like the bits with a pogues-ish flair but i don't know how the smiths got into all of this (which they did on some tracks)... opinions?

They're sort of 'interesting' aren't they? The singer, Edward, apparently lives in an outside facility on Eel Pie Island, with Churchill, his dog.

According to this week's NME, Edward Larrikin is a 'classic British eccentric.'

Without wishing to denigrate Edward's individuality, there's basically something wrong with with him, I fear.

Have only heard 'Happy as Annie' so my knowledge is limited- couldn't hear the Arcade Fire in the sound at all- they use violins but thats about it isn't it?

I saw them as a kind of Levellers with emo haircuts? (or am i being unkind?)
